My H had his guitar plugged into his amp before 8am this morning.. Its loud. I must be a grouchy old lady now, b/c I loathe loud! The pearl Jam concert that we are going to in the fall should be a blast, lol.

Thanks wiki, for the b-day wishes. It was this past Tuesday, I share it with my twin brother and my mom. Which meant family dinner... I hate that I have to see my family on my b-day!!

The a/c guy just left. It's now running....whew! But it will take quite some time before it cools down in here. Blown fuses and whatnot.

One less thing for me to be frantic about.

I think I will go back to my mom's house where it's cool....(she's away for the week but coming back home late this afternoon)....and take the opportunity to use a house phone to call unemployment and be on hold for hours on end in order to get my last check. Maybe I'll even finish my taxes....then run home, grab a shower and head out to my assignment later today....then pick up my daughter from my sister's house.

Thanks, Lola, for the birthday wishes. Happy Birthday, Healed!

Having a really nice morning. My son is going to an amusement park with his girlfriend so we got up with him to give him a huge breakfast. My H got up also and was helping clean up the kitchen. We're all in good moods and had some good conversations.

My son's car has a flat and I suspect that it's because the farrier dropped a nail in the driveway while shoeing the horses. So, I'm letting him use my truck to go meet his girlfriend (she was driving anyway). I'll take his car to get the flat repaired before he gets home, just in case it's because of my horse thing.

I'm going to go to lunch with a friend and we're going to get running shoes and picking up a couple of "rescue" ducks. My ducks, Wikid, are doing very well and we all adore them. The two we're getting today are a bonded pair being retired by a commercial breeder, and she said that she had never had a pair as bonded as these two, so she was really looking for a home for them together. One is a Swedish .. something, and the other is an Ancona. Oh, found it. He is a Swedish Blue.
Thanks for this!

lol.

I think using a land line is a good idea. I hate being on hold...good luck.

Lola, my H has his own bathroom (because he's a pig) next to the laundry area. He has taken to throwing his clothes in the washer after showering, which is better than on the floor. Son and Daughter are extremely distressed by this, they freak out at the thought of dad's dirty undies being in with their (much dirtier) clothes. lol.

then comes chickie with a baby carriage.

Just got to my mom's....and first thing, called unemployment. Their recording said that all lines were in use and to try again in 30 minutes.

On the one hand, I don't have to sit on hold....on the other hand, it doesn't seem promising that I'm going to accomplish my goal of reaching them. I'm not giving up though.

And yes, wiki....bad me, I didn't finish my taxes. I had an issue with my last W2 from my old employer that I needed to get clarification on and hadn't returned to finish it at my moms (couldn't install the software on my computer so I'm using hers). I've been avoiding coming here like the plague. But since she's away, it's a good time to get back to it. I just don't know where she put all my tax paperwork. AARGH. If I can't finish it today, she's away for 4 days a week for the next few weeks - so I will definitely be able to get back here to finish it once I find out where the damn paperwork is.

Question for my couch peeps....

One of the clients that I've been interpreting for had a tragedy occur in her family. I just saw her last week, and she mentioned she's been having a hard time with her son (she has 4 kids - 2 boys, 2 girls - ages 12, 13, 20, 22). When I went to my assignment at the same facility yesterday, I learned that her son was killed the other night, a shooting - and apparently was involved in some really bad things.

I feel so awful for this woman and her family. Just awful. The viewing is tomorrow. Would it be out of line for me to go?

Don't know what this is or where it is going, but it "feels" like a fun ride.
I should get out of bed, but I won't for a bit. Hey, I'm allowed, have to work this evening & all weekend. Forgot to brush my teeth last night, ugh, maybe I will do that and take a (cool) shower.

Hey mixed up, I had an epiphany in the shower----------GO. This is about being a human being for another human being and will be remembered kindly.
And, oh crap, I didn't want to be reminded of taxes, I used to be so good and on time...the envelopes sit there....and sit there....
Thanks for this!

HEaled - may I suggest ear plugs? They make some foamy kind now that I don't find uncomfortable and they really help me. I often had to leave concerts because the sound actually hurt me. The earplugs make it so it is fun again.

MUE - I can't recommend either...I'd be ecstatic about NOT having to go!

CHEERS to Food & Wine Magazine, which finally comes up to the veggie plate. They say “Vegetables are the new pork, the new cupcake and the new craft beer all in one.” in this month's issue. Woot. I think I will use that as my siggy line!

Thanks, my friends.

And wiki, I understand. I'm sometimes triggered by them as well, but not to an extreme, luckily.

I think I'll go.

I kinda like hanging out at my mom's when she's not here.

Cable TV.
Reliable internet.
Air conditioning.

I could get used to this. Oh wait, mom's coming home today. Nevermind.
