The couch is quite eclectic music-wise.

I agree with SD. One of my favorite things from college was being introduced to new tunes, usually with bingers and a few beers.

Ike , you might be the only recorded male in recent history to make SD equivocate! Hoo-hah! So do you all know who did a gorgeous recent cover of Last Kiss? I never thought I'd like any version better than the original, but I also loved Counting Crows Big Yellow Taxi so much.

I'm not sure SD will agree to that. Counting Crows did Big Yellow Taxi? Why did no one tell me? the Crows are forever endeared to me for their tune, The Rain King, an obvious reference to Bellow's novel about Henderson. I want, i want, I want. And I have no idea who did a recent cover of Last Kiss. Do tell. please.

They played this at my H's niece's wedding reception in southern IN... the groom and all of his friends locked arms and swayed and sang this song with their beer bottles in their hands...

my H and I are backwards... my H grew up in the country and hates country music... I grew up in suburbs and love country music.

I've listened to that song many times and i've never spent the night in Texas. Steve Goodman also wrote City of New Orleans.

Okay I read up on it. I need to get out more!

And I found a non-concert version of pearl jam doing last kiss - that was probably it. Very elemental.

My sister was 6 years older than me and listened to all of these story songs:

I was only 8 or 9 and I thought these were so sad... I think that's why I even have the words memorized...

Do you like Gram Parsons? Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers, Solo with Emmy Lou. He helped introduce the Stones to Country Music. Anita Pallenberg didn't want him hanging around. She thought he was too wild for Keith. If you are too wild for Keith Richards, you are in very rare company.

Thanks! Unfortunately, even with the hours, it's not nearly enough.

...and I wish I could hear some songs from the bands posted on the couch - but my computer doesn't allow me to do that.

I'm a Duran Duran fan....but I grew up listening to all kinds of music....and yet none of these are familiar to me.

Just watched The Lost Boys....Great movie, but you can tell it's old. The affects are nowhere to the level that you see in movies today...but still, a great movie. It got me in the mood to watch Goonies. LOL.
