I was wondering if any of you ever followed your Therapist to his/her new place after leaving the place you were previously meeting, I'm sure there are a few who have. I don't mean following them to another office within the same company (which I have done before) but I mean following them to a completly new company.
Thanks for this!

I have.
To start with, i saw her at a NHS Eating Disorder Service. I then decided to move house to the next county. She lived in the new county, so i now see her privately.

Interesting because I go to NHS as well , my current Therapist might be leaving in May but if she does than I might not be able to follow her to her new place since my Insurance might not let me (they may not take it there)

She is the first private T that i have seen. I always saw NHS Ts , and its a huge difference. Worth every £.
I am confused, are you in the UK (hence the NHS) or USA (hence the insurance)?

Yes, I followed my T when she went out on her own in her own practice. Did not really change much. She took my insurance so copayment was the same. Only difference it was an additional 20 minute drive.

If you like your T, continue to see her.

The problem with me is that I have medical assistance so that might not work for me.

I had a T who worked for an agency. When she went into private practice, I followed her there. She said the agency didn't like to lose their clients, but it was okay. I had to pay her more, though.

If she won't accept medical assistance at the new place, ask if you can continue paying her the same amount. They usually accept sliding scales.

I followed my T to a new practice. He explained what would stay the same and what would change when he told me, and then let me make the decision whether to follow him or not.

I'll be "following" my T to her new practice when she starts next month. The increase in fee and the 50 minute drive will be a royal PITA, but right now it feels worth it. We'll see if I still feel that after the first rupture!

I haven't had to but I would follow my T. I've asked her to follow me when I move out of state . She told me she can't but will help me find someone willing to take me.
