is simply a reflection of yourself"
Words my T once said to me. Words that I try and hold onto when I'm doubting myself. Words that make me miss her and her wisdom so much that my heart aches. Do any of you have phrases or images of your T that you hold on to help you when you're feeling down? ![]() Jacq

Hi jacq10, my T says the exact quote! And I've always found it so special and comforting coming from her. She also says, "learn how to love yourself, and you'll learn how to love others". That has helped me a lot, especially when it comes to the old tapes that are still in my head - thanks to my parents. Learning how to love me, and putting me first to take care of others better, are things I've learned from my wonderful, great, beautiful T.

My T always says, your body doesn't reflect who you really are. The body is just something you have to show up in, but what you are inside is so much more.
I have very low self esteem, and every time I am feeling low he reminds me of that.

My former T told me in a voice message (in response to me leaving an anxious mess of a message for her saying I didn't deserve to leave my room to eat or get out from under the covers even though it was hot, etc.) that she knows I feel that way but that she hoped I could see that those things just aren't true. Another time when I had explained another emotional situation where I bombarded myself with hurtful messages (that I'm pathetic, ugly, stupid, etc, etc.), she told me in session that when I have those thoughts that I should tell the thoughts "f*** you! get out!" I laughed when she said it, but she kept going and told me she was serious. It was touching to see her get fired up and want something better for me than I thought I deserved. And even though I don't have those thoughts much anymore, I always think of her saying that when I start to get down on myself. I owe her so much thanks for helping me through those and other issues.
