The time has finally come for me to give up my pdoc of 9 years. I am moving to the other side of the state, and I need someone local, who I don't have to drive 250 miles to see when I'm in crisis (and who has admitting privileges at local hospitals).
I have no earthly idea how to go about this. My pdoc himself suggested the AMA website, but they give you almost no information. I wouldn't know what to do to find other people in the area who have been in need of a pdoc! That just feels like a horrible invasion of privacy, if I could even go about it that way. Anybody got ideas?? I got the one I have when I was a student and he was the consulting psychiatrist at my school counseling center....so I've never had to really look for one on my own. ![]() Candy |

Your p-doc can't give you a referral or ask his p-doc friends for a referral to someone over your side of the state?

He was born and raised in the town I used to live in, and went to med school 90 miles down the road, then came back to do his residency -- he doesn't know anybody on the side I'm going to! (I did ask.)
