I've been seeing the same psychologist since 1998 - hard to believe that much time has gone by. For the last year, she's been letting me see her without paying her, since I'm long term unemployed, instead I've been running up a tab, and I'll pay her once I get back into the workforce.

But, in the last couple of months I've lucked into some amazing free therapy. I got referred to an incredible trauma therapist through my rehab who works for a hospital so it doesn't cost me anything to see her. I'm also doing a free psychotherpay group once a week. I'm also in the initial stages of a really intense trauma program. Currently I'm in the one day a week phase, but in another month or so, I'll move into the 4 days a week program which runs for 8 weeks. This is a lot of therapy. I can't handle anymore.

So I had to write my old T and tell her I can't handle any more therapy, plus I don't really want to go into anymore debt, so I need to stop seeing her for now. She's currently out of town, but is going to set up one last appointment for us, to say bye.

It is going to be so weird, no seeing her every couple of weeks.

Wow. Good luck with it all. It may be strange not seeing your t ever few weeks, but this other therapy sounds like it will help a lot. I'm glad you were able to get it. I'm also glad you will be able to get close with your other therapist. I've been terminated and switched willingly, and the Times I had that "goodbye"session was the most beneficial. (Hugs) and good luck on your new journey.

That's a long time with the one therapist, how are you feeling about the transition?
