For those of you who do see your Ts next client, how much does it bother you, and why?
I see two Ts...one constantly piggybacks his appts. The woman after me won't put her phone down, and he has to wait for her to get up and walk back with him...it's a huge production! I have yet to look her in the eye as I am walking out, so I don't even know what her face looks like....I have just seen her hands texting away and heard her voice. It does concern me that he has appts. so close together and I wonder about his ability to switch gears so quickly. I might ask him about it but I haven't yet. I see the client before me. There should be 10 min between our sessions but she often goes over (not into my time- leaves when it's "my turn")
We're the same age but she's beautiful and petite... yeah... |

I see the client before me pretty much every time. He's a little boy and I see his mom as well...last week he gave my T a hug. I had a strange reaction to that one - honestly, not sure how to process that /:
I sometimes see the one after me but I don't look - just out of he corner of my eye lol...therapy really is such a weird experience for me! |

With my old t I would see the people before and after. Sometimes it would bother me when she clearly had a more friendly rapport with them.
She also stacked her appointments not leaving any time in between. If she went over it would make her late and she often had to make you wait to use the bathroom or whatever. I thought that was a little lame. Like she was just trying to make more money by squeezing more people in. |

I haven't seen any of the other clients at my T's office. My T has two offices in an office building where anyone can rent an office for anything. When I arrive I go to the waiting room where there are multiple chairs but never anyone else. She comes to get me when she is ready and we go two doors down to her office. Each office exits into the hallway so I don't have to go through the waiting room to exit the building which is why I have probably not seen other clients. I know there are sometimes people after me because each time I get there, I fill out a feelings inventory paper on a clipboard and sometimes there is more than one clipboard in the waiting area.

I generally see before and after (if I'm not the last one like I normally am). Doesn't bother me in the least. It's a busy office with 3 pdocs and about 7 therapists, so there are almost always other people in the waiting room. Just par for the course.

I don't have to deal with this a lot. Generally, I am the last appointment of the day for t. Sometimes, he will have somebody before me, but not always. It doesn't bother me to see his clients. I do get curious though, if they stop with receptionist and how soon they schedule their next appointment.

I never used to have this problem....ever. I had never seen anyone in the waiting room besides myself. Now I see before and after clients
Once I arrived a little earlier than normal and could hear my T through the walls with another client. I didn't dare to look at her face just kept my eyes glued to my phone. Also once the client that's usually AFTER me on a certain day walked in at the end of MY session. (literally just knocked and walked in while we were talking) I was livid!! I'm now trying to get back to being last of the day on a certain day,but if that happens again,I don't think I'll be sticking around, good T or not. |

I had the next person just walk in to the office one time while I was still there. It was odd to me that she would just walk in to the closed office of anyone let alone a therapist and without even knocking first. I simply assumed that next client has a much different interaction with the therapist than I do.
I saw a therapist once who was in an apartment with several other therapists who had turned the various rooms into offices. I hated the waiting room with other people because I dislike having anyone else see that I am there to see a therapist and it seemed too much a breach of privacy to see the other clients too.

I'm the last appointment of the day - as in the clinic is closed when I leave and I have to go through a different door. I can't just take time off each week, so I just rush over after work - so it's not a typical start-time for a session.

I say that because my T is booked up back to back when she's in the office. She does that because she has a limited schedule and wants to be able to see as many of her clients as she can.

I don't see the other clients and am very glad because I want to be my T's ONLY patient! I am jealous and possessive. She is mine!
I know, very infantile but that's where I am.

I never see the client before or after me, unless I come in early, but never the next client, because she leaves a 15 minute gap between sessions

Once, the next client was my best friend; it felt quite weird knowing my T was rushing to finish with me and my friend was the next client and that her session would overrun..

I see two different Ts and have seen their other clients in both offices. The only ones that make me think twice are at the eating disorder clinic. A lot of comparisons going on there, but I don't think that's real surprising.

Oops, posting mistake.
I have seen the same client twice now who was before me. She is a professional woman due to appearing very well dressed, and it was in the wintertime and her boots were leather and very expensive looking. Somehow, I felt intimidated, as I don't work and usually wear jeans and t-shirt and felt so unprofessional. |

Over here if you're NHS ( I guess it's different if you go private) it's pretty standard to see any number of other people in the waiting rooms due to local metal health teams (pdocs, cpn's, T's, social workers etc) all working out of the same building.
I just keep my eyes on the floor, and try to figure out a little bit about these other people by just looking at their shoes. When I was 18/19 I did walk out of the office and saw the Mum of a kid I used to look after. I knew exactly why she was there, but it was massively awkward for me as my mental health was, and still is, something i keep very private. |

I am very grateful that i have never seen the next client; i have always been the last client of the day since it was usually7 pm or so before i could get to my t's office when she was still here at home. Now, of course, we meet by skype and telephone, so no chance at all of seeing other clients either.

Sometimes I see T's other clients - sometimes when I leave, sometimes when I arrive. Once I ran into a client leaving when I was walking into the waiting room. That was a disaster because the client looked like and reminded me of someone from my past who hurt me very badly (even though I KNOW there was no way the client could be the same person from my past).
It was so bad, it triggered me...that made for an interesting session. Normally, I don't mind seeing T's other clients, though I do wonder what their relationship with T is like. |

I don't ever see the next client. Last time i had a session, the next client was early and was parked in my Ts driveway.
I had spent the session discussing the hard time i am having with my ED and how i feel huge and repulsive. The next client was a lot thinner and prettier than me ![]() I felt like a total fraud, and that my T must think i am pathetic moaning about a stupid ED when i am not even as thin as that next client. It happened 2 weeks ago but it is really bothering me still and i don't know if i should discuss it with my T. ![]()

I once saw the next client, a woman who was crying. It made me feel very bad for her.

The same thing happened to me too, but she was covering her face and sitting sideways in the chair. Maybe this is odd, but I was glad she was seeing my T.
