My therapist undertook 3 years of therapy and says she wouldn't hesitate to go back if she felt she needed to. It makes me feel secure that she's worked thru a lot of the own stuff.

Yes, she has mentioned that she does more than once. I can't imagine doing their job without having a t of their own; if for no other reason than just making sure they can keep "their stuff" out of "our stuff".

My therapist has told me briefly about her therapy history and references it occasionally, or will answer questions briefly about it if I ask her- it is sometimes reassuring to know she's been on the client side, and also how sincerely she feels about the value and depth of therapeutic relationships. She also says, like Asiablue mentioned, she wouldn't hesitate to return if she needed it, but that after such a long time in therapy, she can typically be her own therapist now- and that she's internalized her previous therapists.
