that terminated (because they had too many clients) or passed you on to another t (because you were such a bad match) i tried to find a t i could afford. on a sliding. but couldnt find one. ive decided to put my name on the waitlist at the free place i was at before. but im worried i will get one of the ts i was seeing before.

I haven't had that experience but why don't you just see who you get before you worry about it? Even if you saw the T before, it could work out differently this time. You'll probably get someone else, though. I hope you get a T soon!!
Thanks for this!

You can always request that you see someone different. I did that at the place I'm seeing my current t. I had seen someone else there briefly, and I didn't feel like it was a good fit, so I requested someone else (tho go figure, they gave me a t with an office directly across the hall from the other t). Some places try to stick you with the same t If things seemed to be progressing well, But most places will try to switch It up (at least in my experience). I know this place asked me why I wanted to switch. I told them I did not feel like I could connect with the t I had started to see. They managed to find someone with a very different style and personality, which is turning out really well.
I had never been in a position to return to a t because I had mostly had intens or I moved far away.
Thanks for this!

I agree with Mtng, you can request to have someone different.

I've never gone back to a T that terminated me, but I have gone back to a T that I terminated. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Like Jacq10 I went back to a T whom I had terminated. Unlike with Jacq, it didn't work out at all, and afterwards I realized that the reasons I finished with her in the first place were perfectly valid and were the same reasons it didn't work the second time around.

Suzzie like others here have said, if it's a clinic or a place where there are several Ts, you can always ask to see someone different. I would find it very hard to go back to a T who had terminated me for whatever reason, and I think it would just make therapy more difficult for you.

Having said that, if you have no choice and you need to see a T, there's no harm in trying it out is there?

No, I've had other T's here and there for only a short while, but the one I had for almost five years in the 1990's I was too 'attached' to. In hindsight, she actually did more harm than good starting me off on the journey through childhood sexual abuse and into years of hospitalizations, meds, etc. She tried her best but I think realized (or maybe didn't) she was over her head dealing with the therapy with me. She cut it off. I was devastated, yet thankful now.
