I think that's mostly because you can see the stars when it's dark outside (which you can't do in Sweden during the summer because it's too bright) and I love astronomy and gazing at the stars and planets. I do like the dark for other reasons too. Reasons I don't really know how to explain. I just like it, though more light makes you less tired so that's something to look forward to I guess. I miss the sun sometimes.

It's kind of amazing, you really don't have to go too far up for a dramatic difference. I visited a friend in Edinburgh when she was studying abroad there (that's about the same as you), and I didn't FEEL like I had gone much further north, but the daylight difference was huge!

I would miss the stars if I didn't get to see them in summer, too.

Wow...I sat on the computer all night watching stupid youtube videos. I never went to bed and am still wide awake and not tired. I hope this is just a fluke.

Hello Couch...

I'm all for more light and warmer temps. I like it when it's like 70- 80 out.

Yesterday we had temps in the 60's and today I think they said we will hit 70. That's unseasonably warm. We will be back in the 30's by Tuesday.

Today I wanted some food that I like to make in the spring so I'm make burritos. I have ground chicken breast to use. Yum.

Temperature wise...

You know you live in the North when you see that there's a day that will be -20C and you're all like "IT'S GONNA BE WARM!!!". And then realize that actually, you'd be fine if you could just have -30C and don't flinch at -40C because you know that -48C is a whole lot colder!

If it wasn't for the cold I would like winter. I could handle the no-daylight if it was at least warm enough to be alright with being outside!

Personally I find it more difficult to handle summer temperatures. It makes me overloaded (sensory overload) much quicker.

I should add that we don't really get temperatures lower than -25°C or something where I live.

Stars in summer - what a quaint concept

I find the darkness more and more difficult as I get older. That it, I do like the proper darkness at night, and I love being able to see the stars, it's the grey murky days that get me down. I live about half a kilometer south of the 60th parallel.

-40°C is an extreme temperature here, though. We rarely get temperatures below -30°C. Our winters are comparatively mild because if the Gulf stream. But I WANT SNOW. We won't get any for at least a week, though, that's when it might go down below freezing. Bah. Humbug.

The snow will probably get here in January. But, as you know, when it's here it's here to stay and it stays for months and months.

We've had snow since Hallowe'en.. it should be gone by May. hahahaha.

I don't like super hot either. +30C is way too hot for me. I'll take the heat over the cold though, because I like outdoor activities and none of the ones I like are available during the winter.

One of my dreams is to travel with the sun. Norway in the summer and perhaps Australia or Chile in the winter.

Aw, no snow? We got some dumped on us last week, but now the temperature is freakishly high (50F = 10C the past couple days) and it's all melting and gross.

I'm with you on the sleep, I probably got about 6 hours last night but I average 8-9 hours so I'm still tired.

Rts - I think these things wax and wane. I believe we can all like each other even when we do not agree. Conflict or differing ideas, approaches, beliefs and stances are just par for the course. One need not dislike another simply because one disagrees.
Just my approach.

Still in the midst of an ice storm.. the worst is over, but the warning goes until 11pm tonight.. Thankfully, we have kept our power, but we have over 30,000 without power in our county.. Kids are a bit stir crazy, so when they get up from naps we will be making and decorating sugar cookies!!

I got a call that our scrimmage tomorrow for bball team is still on.. Hopefully, I will be able to make it there. That may change, as of right now our county is still under a state of emergency, and the only people that are supposed to be on the road are emergency workers. Although, H just ventured out to get some more milk and bread.. I still have Christmas shopping to do!! EEK!
