OK, seemingly I post "bad" threads here, despite this supposedly being a supportive forum, but then:
- what good is a therapist who judges doesn't adhere to his or her own professional morals? This includes telling a client he cannot go out and party, or drink a lot at weekends, or have casual sex. yeah, these are ALL pathologies.... - who denies their client a RIGHT to the same normal knowledge all others received by default/proxy? yeah, and therapists exist to assist to aid people? ![]() ![]() |

You ran into a bad T, not all of them are bad. My T will let me do whatever even if she doesn't like it, and she leta met talk it out. That T was very unethical. I hopw you can find a new T that is competent

eh?
Look, don't you subscribe to anarchy and woeful interpersonal skills, and presume this is the norm? My views on therapists stand. |

You are right that therapy won't do you any good. It doesn't work magically, you have to embrace the process and do the work.

The therapist can't deny you anything or tell you what to do if you are an adult. You have free will. A therapist is there to guide you through change. If you have bad therapists stop going and find another. Repeat until you find the right one.

I realize that and you have a right to your views. I don't subscribe to anything. I presume everyone has interpersonal problems because they have problems in relationships, that DO get resolved yes but still problems. However I also believe that it can be helped and doesn't HAVE to be that way.

Therapy doesn't work for everybody. It can make some people worse. If you are one of those people seek other alternatives.

I believe the key is to find a therapist you resonate with - a therapist who will listen and understand and not sit in judgment. It seems like you might have a T who is more directive or controlling. My T never offers advice except for suggestions on how to attend to my own emotions.
If therapy feels like a fight, then that is definitely the wrong T for you. |

Just because they have "therapist" next to their names doesn't mean they're the end all be all. It means they have a credential.
Just like everyone else, there's bad ones...bad doctors, bad lawyers, bad teachers... Hopefully, you'll find a good one |
