Taken from inside Book I'm currently reading - "The Examined Life. How we lose and find ourselves"
We receive and we lose, and we must try to achieve gratitude; and with that gratitude to embrace with whole hearts whatever of life that remains after the losses. ANDRE DUBUS 11, Broken Vessels. |

Thanks for sharing. Isn't it also said somewhere that it's only the examined life worth living?

I read the book and loved it. Another great read is Tales from the Therapy Room by Phil Lapworth.

That's so interesting. I was just reading a book today, I can't remember who it was by, that talked about how people nowadays are taught to feel guilty for having their own desires, learn that "what's meant to be is meant to be", and settle for what they have rather than strive for something more. It's a very stark contrast to your quote seems to be saying. I wonder, where is the line between gratitude for what you have and just resigning to the fact that what you have is what you have, despite disappointment or desire for more?

By Steven Grosz? I actually got the audio book of it. Very interesting. It is very much psychoanalysis based.
