Do you ever feel like it's too hot to go to see T, even when her office is pretty cool in any weather?

I ask because I have T next week but we're going through a heatwave and I'm considering cancelling . . .

Opposite here. Sometimes it's just too cold, or snowy. Extreme weather makes everything harder.

I hear you.

Oh my god a heat wave! We're in the midst of this crazy polar vortex with temps in the -20 to -40 range every day. But I know what you mean. Bad weather is just one more thing to slog through and sometimes it's all just too much.
Thanks for this!

Do you think T might not want clients to come in during a heatwave? I don't think she has air conditioning in her building, although it's pretty cool in there.

I live in North Queensland and my T has never cancelled even when the A/C died in his building.

It's forecast to be 42C (107.6F) here on the day I see my Pdoc. I really don't want to cancel, but I don't cope with heat too well. I'm planning to take extra cold drinks with me to stay hydrated. Thankfully it's only a short trip to Pdoc's office and our buses should be airconditioned (plus his rooms are as well).

I'm in cold weather at the moment, but I have not wanted to see T in very hot weather in the past because I didn't want her to see me sweaty or in anything other than pants.

I think in very very hot weather i wouldn't be very motivated to go. Could you have a telephone session from the comfort of your air conditioned house?

Ive cancelled when its too hot. Like a run of 100+F days. One day i forgot my walking stick at the coffee shop - that NEVER happens! - and then i broke into a cold sweat waiting for the bus - i was a heat stroke waiting to happen. You need to listen to symptoms like that.

The air conditioning in T's office is not very good. She is usually cold no matter what, and I'm the opposite. She has a little fan she will turn on for me. I also get warmer/flushed if I get embarrassed by what I'm talking about so I'm usually warm no matter what the temperature is in the room.

In cold weather, I dress in layers because no matter how cold it is outside and in MY house, I'm too warm in T's office. Once I wore something I couldn't take off, and I was miserable, so I learned to dress accordingly!

Five words: Central heat and air conditioning.

Outside weather doesn't bother me either unless we've iced over (in which case they've probably shut the office down anyway). I can't let how weather get in the way. We have temperatures mostly over 100 generally from mid-June through September.

I am not affected by weather much in relation to therapy. If it is too icy then the therapist cancels, or I assume if the office was an extreme temperature either way she would let me know, but otherwise I don't really look at weather having anything to do with therapy.

Yup. Same here. Besides, I don't mind the heat, it's the cold I hate. But, that's what heaters are for - in the car, in the building, etc.

from what you said the office itself should be cold even without air conditioning ... so the main thing seems to be how you get there e.g. car? public transport? walking?
heat waves
I wondered if a phone session was an option as well?
if you do go ... taking water might be good

I might be in the minority, but I do everything I can to not have to cancel or miss T appointments. We've cancelled twice in over three years - once because I was extremely ill with high fevers, and once because we got over a foot of snow and the drives weren't cleared. Otherwise, I go to T no matter what.

Cold & the early dark of DST put mine on hold November - March.

I'm not comfortable operating my scooter during the evening rush hour when it's dark.

And, it's simply TDC (too damn cold) during the winter months to be on the darn thing!

Yeah I have cancelled heaps in the hot weather. We had a run of 38-43 degree days last year and I kept cancelling. She has air con in her building but its not very effective in her room.

I think if a T doesn't want his/her clients to come due to snow or heat or whatnot, then the T should be the one to cancel the appts.

If you don't want to go though, you have a right to cancel it and that's ok.
