So since I have recently been put on meds, I will be meeting with my psychiatrist more frequently instead of my therapist/ social worker. I think this is a great opportunity to ask him questions where I can get legit and medical answers to my problems (I have GAD and MDD) as he is more knowledgeable. I feel frustrated with this whole therapy process as I feel like my SW is not doing anything that is directly helping me/ making me better. I want to talk to the psychiatrist about issues I'm having and how lost I feel in my life and how I'm stuck in-between transition (I want to let go of stressors in my life but fear is holding me back) but I don't know how to put my feelings into questions for him to answer and somehow make things ok. So my question is, what questions should I ask him that will somehow make me feel satisfied? I know it's a tough question but I just feel at such of a loss for words and I feel like I'm wasting opportunities here.

Hi there,

I suggest keeping a notepad with you and writing down any thoughts that come into your head which you can share later.

Good luck xxx

I would tell your psychiatrist that you don't feel like you're getting anything from therapy with your current T. Also write notes as Ragingquiet suggested and bring them with you. I also found it to articulate how I felt when i first started seeing my psychiatrist. He has a direct nature so he's not one to try to draw things out of you. That can make it tough, so being prepared with notes is a good place to start.
Thanks for this!

First I think you might want to make sure pdoc will be doing therapy or just managing meds. Mine was strictly meds management. He had a brief history but his questions were related to if meds were helping with moods, sleep, and panic issues. His summary of session always had "continue xxx therapy" type statements.
Thanks for this!
