Not sure if you remember this but a while ago I mentioned that I've been asked to help teaching other students anatomy and help out during dissections etc. Yesterday I realized that my answer might've been quite vague so ended up worrying about whether or not my anatomy professor actually knows that I want to accept the offer. I emailed him about it and told him I just wanted to clarify that I'm really interested and that I'd like to accept. (Yes, I've decided to accept even though I'm scared out of my mind.)
Anyway, now I'm really anxious about the fact that I sent the email yesterday. What if the professor now thinks I'm really annoying or that I'm pushing him or something (since he said he'd email me sometime after the 28th of February, but that was before I realized I was being vague). Now I pretty much imagine that he thinks I'm bothering him and that I've ruined everything when all I want is to learn more. Ugh. Did I mess up? |

I'm not a professor or a teacher but I think clarification is usually perceived as a good thing.

so spent the whole day going with my son to buy his first car. should it have been a good and fun thing to do. yes but my farther gave my son 5K towards buying the car and so wanted to go with us and we could not say no . it was the most stressful thing again hearing about how I am basically a failure and again any wrong thoughts about my son are my fault and parenting. and then on the way home we had to stop at the nursing home to visit the grandmother from h e l l .there she proceded to tell my son how wonderful all her other grandchildren are. this is all for real I just cant make up this stuff. I suppose in the grand scheme of things it isn't so bad but it hurts and when it is non stop mixed with all the stress of my son being home acting like a out of control marine on leave is sending my stress out of control .I am living on Xanax even though my T has told me she would prefer I not take it but if I don't do something im going to loose it and have a breakdown .I really am . sorry for the vent to add to the rest of my horrible behavior. I promise ill try really hard to get back to normal soon

I wouldn't give her the pic at all because I don't feel she has any right to brag or anything about my son

I remember that I got to shake hands with him (and Sarah Palin) back at a Presidential rally in 2008.

so I'm not a neat person and I hate to clean...but I am proud of myself....its the 2nd night in a row that I went over everything I have already cleaned... I filled dishwasher... Cleaned counters and sink...wiped down stove top and swept and swiffered the floor....
Now I am working on cleaning the outside of lower cabinets with orange oil.... Maybe i will get to top ones too.... |

Sleeping on the couch might be bad for your back though. Just a word of warning.
The Aspie in me particularly enjoys dissecting this couch metaphor... |

For once in a rare while I actually don't have to do any setups in the next few days- an entire weekend (including Friday off), next weekend will be a completely different story though.

The funny thing is, I remember the last time someone read me that story, and I literally just remembered this thirty seconds ago. (Retrieval cues straight out of my psychology textbook. Go figure.) It was when I went to see my first therapist, and I was eight, and I was nervous, and the therapist's waiting room had all kinds of books and toys for little kids, and my dad read that book to me. We hadn't read it since I was two or three and I pretended I was little again and let him read it to me. It was lovely.

Has anyone gone to a 12 step program like al-anon or s-anon? Was it helpful to you?

I went to al-anon for several months a few years ago; my oldest sister is an alcoholic/drug addict, and started to connect with me after years of distance. Plus, my late mother was an alcoholic. I went so I could better understand how to navigate the relationship with my sister. It did help.

I graduated from al-anon to an abuse survivors version of a 12 step program and that, well... it was incredibly intense. Very upsetting material discussed and I didn't know anything at that young age about balance, so, I basically overdosed on that type of engrossing experience, which was not pleasant. However... it was incredibly informative, I met some really supportive, kind, interesting people, and took a lot away from it. |
