I'm one of the people who sees my T 2-3 times a week. I guess it's hard to put oneself into another's shoes, but in my case I don't have school or childcare (or children) and I have 2 mental illnesses. I do work (schedule is a little flexible) and I do have a little bit of a social life. But at this moment in my life I have prioritized therapy to try to work through some trauma and issues and heal to prevent hospitalization and improve the quality of my life. I don't at all see this frequency as a longterm thing. It works well for me now, though this choice of course comes with 'consequences,' mostly financial, some social. But it was a measured decision that I don't regret and am glad that I could make.

I'm sorry if that sounded like a judgement. I'm really more envious, since once monthly therapy makes it hard to accomplish much. A few years ago when I first started and was in crisis, I went once per week. At that point I was a stay at home mom and my kids were in school. I hadn't started started school yet and didn't have a job, so I was able to go. It's just now that I do have the job, kids activities and my own schooling its just not possible. I tried twice per month but scheduling was almost impossible. Plus it's a bit of a drive to get there. I think it is great and even necessary to go more often if you can.

As I mentioned, I see T twice a week, both times in the morning before I go to work, and T's office is less than 10 minutes' walk from my workplace. My working hours are very flexible indeed and I am fortunate in that I can arrange my schedule so I do tasks which don't require a lot of contact with others on my T days. My employer is required by law to give me time off to go to therapy, but I don't want to involve them too much or give them reason to complain, so I don't take advantage of that. Not having children makes it much easier, of course.

I am also lucky to have a bit more flexible working hours. Now I see my T only once per week but the previous one I was seeing twice a week. Unfortunately here Ts work only during normal working hours in my case I needed 4 hours (now only 2) per week off for the therapy so I was doing 4 overhours per week to have the balance right... I would never tell my boss that I need a therapy

Well, I had to prioritize it. I work 60 hours per week. I attend college full time. I have a daughter I care for who's in grade school. I also have some family obligations and to spend a bit of time with my husband. So... I am swamped, but I fit my sessions in.

I do split shifts at work to have a morning break, and do therapy then. I also do some via email and I write quickly. Sleep is about six hours a night as a target.

One factor in my favor is that I do therapy from home, so I do not need to take time to travel to and from sessions.

My husband also works full time, in an office, and does not have much job flexibility, but he manages once per week also, he goes on the weekend so I watch my daughter.

Three or four times a week at the moment. The days shift around. This week we did 2 hours Sunday, 45 mins Tuesday morning, 2 hours Tuesday evening, an hour Wednesday, and we have 2 hours tomorrow morning. Jeez actually adding it up and seeing it written down it looks like a lot. You'd think I could not possibly have anything left to say in between times yet I still manage to text quite a bit as well

Like someone else mentioned though, this is absolutely not a long term plan. Before Christmas, we would book a one hour session every four or five days - so about six a month I guess. A week felt too long in between. I was generally happy with this frequency, but I cannot deny I'm making rapid and significant progress (for me, might seem very little to anyone else) now in this period of intense work. It really is cementing the therapeutic alliance too. It's wonderful.
Thanks for this!

It varies to whatever we can get our schedules to match up, being in different countries. We talk 3-4 times a week usually for a couple of hours. We dont have set days, we try to do it on days when her husband is at work and she can get some privacy on the phone. Also depends on our schedules, sometimes it might only be twice a week.
