What do you do when you have so many things you want to talk about but only an hour to do it??

I wish I knew, I have the same problem. I try to make lists as situations arise or memories pop into my mind and then I prioritize it before my session. When something is "urgent" or time sensitive, and is something that is hindering my daily well-being and functioning I know that is most important to talk about.

I still find it hard to stick to one thing though. It's tough!

I wish I knew a better solution to that also, I often run out of time ... feels more like only about a fifth of the time it was

Prioritize as best as possible. Remind myself we have a session next week too, the week after too - and if something is really important, there will be time for it eventually. If something is urgent, I prioritize it over anything else or I call my T. He's very kind to stay over the session hour if needed, too.

I think I really needed to be reminded of this right now.

Work on the big issues, trust the process and many of the side issues will solve themselves as you go.

Thank you for all your posts! It's amazing how some days you have nothing to talk about and others you have a lot. Thank you for the reminder that there will be another session next week and the week after. It's a sobering thought!

Good question! I write them down and I usually mention them at the beginning and we pick up the most urgent one. Then we spend the remaining time on the other issues. I found saying them at the beginning useful, if there's no time left at least I mentioned them and it can be a starting point for the next session.

Awesome, that was me, last session. I just start on one thing, freeflow from there. Oddly, i want to say, it all was covered.

I used to feel that way and I'd feel overwhelmed. I don't know whether that was just a phase or whether i've changed my way or working but now i very rarely go in with an agenda, i have no expectations and just let the session flow and i like it that way because i don't feel like i need to spill everything out that minute, the really important stuff develops as it needs to.

But you could ask for a longer session or 2 sessions if you really do have a lot you need to speak about.
