I have never cancelled any of my appointments with my T before, I see her on Tuesday! The last week has been a really tough one for me, I had to phone the crisis team they were no any help at all....Last week my T was talking about discharging me, I feel like my T is thinking that she can't help me anymore, She is thinking of discharging me in about 2-3 months.

I don't want to go to T on Tuesday, I feel mentally unwell so was thinking of cancelling, Has anyone else cancelled a session because they are doing bad mentally?

I've cancelled a session because I was worn out from prior long sessions, and I've delayed sessions because I was too upset or feeling overwhelmed from previous sessions.

I am so sorry you're struggling with the issue of possibly needing to change therapists.

Sometimes when an employee's not doing well, they're given a Performance Improvement Plan: do you think if you and your therapist could work out something concrete regarding your shared goals of getting you better, and you worked with that, it might change anything?

Thanks..My nurse is currently writing an extended plan for me, I really have no idea what this is.

We're currently setting goals in T.

I really understand the wanting to cancel ... but if possible having you go ... and her see how mentally unwell you are feeling and hear about the problems with the crisis team, might help her know how to help you more and better

I think now is the time you should be getting to therapy and not cancelling. You need the support right now, especially as the crisis team let you down. Maybe if she sees how badly you are struggling she will see you're not ready to be discharged just yet.
Thanks for this!

I cancel when I need or want a break. It can be a good thing to regroup in my experience.

Personally I think that unless you have a good reason (such as being sick) than you shouldn't cancel a session.

For me, regrouping is the best reason I can think of.

I do feel better today so I will probably go.
I will see if these positive thoughts continue If not then I will phone her on Monday and see what she says, Last time I felt unwell and went to therapy my T called the mental health team, I just don't like the attention Lol.

If you've been calling the crisis team maybe you need the people she will call

I just keep wishing they would give you better care

Thank you tigergirl, I have to admit that I have a great nurse and Pdoc and even my T is great , It is just the crisis team that I dislike, I don't even know why they call themselves "Crisis".

I think it's good to take a break once in awhile as long as you give them the proper cancellation notice. I don't see a problem with it. I never did it. I only missed a couple of times because of bad weather and once he was sick.

I would not cancel a session if I thought my T was thinking she could not help me anymore and I felt she could/wanted her to. I think cancelling a session would send the message that T or therapy was not important/does not seem able to help.
