T Might Visit My Apartment

Well, my T and I discussed her visiting my new apartment at my appointment on Monday, and after saying she couldn't find any way it could possibly harm me, and also said she could see many ways it could be good for me, she left the decision up to me to consider more and decide whether I agreed with her. So I spent a few more days thinking about it.

It's odd because when I said I wished she could see it in person, but I knew she probably wouldn't be okay with it, I never thought she might actually consider it. And now that she has said she is willing to come see it, it actually makes me pretty anxious.

But today, I sent her a text saying I also couldn't come up with a reason it might be harmful, and that as far as I am aware, there's no real reason she couldn't.

So now I wait...

I'm happy to read this. I got a house recently just like you and I think I can understand you well. I thought about the idea of having T here, but while I'd love it on one hand, on the other hand I feel anxious just thinking about it.
So I'm glad you could discuss it with your T!

Just out of curiosity, are you still sure you would like to have her at your place, or are you uncertain about it now?

I do want her to come see it. And she just sent me a text agreeing. So she will come by sometime soon after work and see it. I'm anxious about it, but I am also excited.

I will definitely. She said it would probably be a few weeks, so I have a long waiting game ahead, haha.

That's exciting: I hope you enjoy the opportunity to show off your space to someone who really appreciates you and what it means to you. Maybe you could even get a picture of her at your place to help you hold onto her presence there.

Yay, happy for you, sorry you have to wait so long. If I had my own place I wouldnt mind my t, coming over, I know she would not, if she would, I would have to pop a couple of xanax lol.

I have absolutely no desire to visit her place, lol. She has kids and a husband and NO!

Have you clarified specifics such as - do you pay her for the visit, how long will it be, do you expect her to sit and talk to you or just be shown around and leave etc?

Not yet. I'm sure that will come during our next appointment. I am not paying her for the months of May and June, so I am assuming this falls under that umbrella as well. I don't know why it wouldn't.

I can see so much benefit from her visiting your apartment. I can tell a lot about a person just by looking at their bookcase, just think what your therapist could learn about you by seeing your apartment. I mean that only in a good way, having her have a better feel for who you really are, not the person you present to her, can only help her help you.

I hope this is right. She said she sees a lot of benefit for me if she visits as well.

That's awesome that you were able to work that out. Let us know how it goes! I'd probably feel awkward and excited at the same time. It's cool that she's so chill about all of this. She obviously cares!

I don't know whether I could do that (or even whether I would want to). I know it will be special that she is there, but I don't know if I want a picture of it. That idea really intimidates me.

That's great that she has agreed! I'm really happy for you, I know that I was a little bit sceptical but I'm sure that you and your T know the best what is good for you

I can understand why you would be. I was (and I guess still sort of am) skeptical myself, just because it's outside of what is considered "normal". But my T thinks it will be really good for me, and at the least, neither of us can come up with a way it might harm me, so we have agreed to at least see if it is a positive thing.

I told t about this thread today. I told him i imagined him coming to my apartment with a bunch of garbage bags and digging his way into / out of the foyer. I said i was surprised i let myself even go there. He said, um, why dontcha let yourself actually GO THERE this weekend? I told him i might have to call 911 (999 for those in the UK). We will see! Tomorrow! She is coming to see my apartment tomorrow evening! Less than 24 hours away!

Isn't that funny how I bump up this post.....and it's....well, now today!

This place is kinda magic - and im not really a woo-woo kind of person. But there is a certain synergy here. And i dont mean just in the psych forum. I mean across all the forums. I love the people here.
