At last week's session I completed annual insurance paperwork which included security questions like mother's maiden name, street you grew up and pet's first name. So when I verbally gave my answers T smirked at the street name. When I asked what was funny she said "Oh, just another thing we have in common. You lived on Howard Ave and I went to Howard Lowell Jr High." Huh, what? What do you mean "... another thing we have in common?!" The session was over so I couldn't ask and now I feel ridiculous bringing it up.

Do you have any Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon with your T?
Thanks for this!

My T just started working with another person who had a huge impact in my life, but walked out of my life literally overnight. It was devastating, and part of the aftermath of that was ending up in counseling with my T. And now one of her other jobs is at the same place he works. So ironic.

Kind of, I guess.

Her church recycles used school furniture overseas. My business does the same thing.

She lives a few blocks from the neighborhood I grew up in. Yes, I stalked her online. :P Only because you people brought it up!

Great topic--never seen this one before!!!

Some kismet here, but just a little. Not exactly an accident.

When I was searching for T's , I had just about given up on therapy. But I was in the hospital, and choosing a T was a condition of my release.

It was vacation season for T's so I just got a bunch of voicemails. So I thought "F it! I'm picking the guy whose full name is my favorite animal, just for laughs."
He turned out to be by best therapist of all. Still with him.

Minor thing in common--- his wife's name is the same as my mentor at work at the time.

fun topic!!

Touchy subject for me... Previous T tried to get me to see things we had 'in common' at one point. I have issues that stem from not being allowed to be different. Didn't help that she seemed to be the girly-girl type and I'm a nerd... Yeah, that one didn't end well...

Wait really? Or are you saying that your T's step-mom had the same name that you do in real life? Because Hankster is a REALLY odd name.

We sort of have our birthday in common (his is the day after mine).

We both used to practice some form of martial arts.

We share some points of view and personal experiences.

We both have the same training but that happened after I started my therapy with him so it's not such a spectacular coincidence.

I'm sure there's more and I'm just forgetting.

Mr T was mentored by my first therapist.

Madame T speaks English and so do I! Crazy coincidence.

I know nothing about her - she won't discuss, reply or add to any conversation. I feel really sad.

I haven't asked much but we both have pets and we finished college in the same place which is not the one we live in. When it comes to things and tastes we seem to be pretty similar. We have the same phone, agenda, hair. Last time we were both wearing red shoes and the exact same shirt. We smiled and she said "well I'm not asking where you bought it". It makes me think that we might have got along well, had I met her under different circumstances.

We don't have much in common but let's try:
- spending 1 hour per week at the same place & time
- speaking English
- being rather honest ("rather" I put because of my T as I cannot be 100% sure that she's not completely lying and I am just extremely naive )
- not bad education and not bad job

Many things. Too many. Most recently she was giving me advice on remembering things, due to a medication side effect. There is a "sticky note" program on our computers and we both have our entire desktops covered in them. We also make them all different colors to make it extra organized. She rolled her eyes and looked away when I told her about this, because it happens with so many things.
The strange part is I'm in my mid-20's and she is 50.

My T went to the same college as me and lived in the same dorm (not at the same time) and she lives around the corner from a dear friend of mine who also happens to be a T (yes I googled her too!)

My pdoc's kids are the same ages as my two youngest kids. He began was having marital problems around the same time as me (except he divorced and I didn't). He has the same birthday as my brother (whom he reminds me of) and a close male friend of mine. My brother and this friend are the only men that I have close platonic relationships with. Otherwise I have issues and insecurities with most men. So I thought that was an interesting coincidence. Must be something about that date!
Thanks for this!

We have a lot in common, or maybe that is just the transference talking, LOL. I guess we have several hobbies in common, he's lives within a block of where I used to, we have similar interests, similar beliefs about a lot of things.

My T grew up in a city where some of my family of origin come from. Other things we have in common are a love of coffee and sarcasm, we both play the guitar and we both have cats.

I like the fact we have these things in common.

My T and I worked in the same school district at the same time (he was a school psychologist/diagnostician)--different buildings though. He was located in the school where I currently teach, so he knows some of my co-workers. He also knows how this district runs which is always interesting when he gives his take on things job-related.
