my T never ever forced this on me .she asked if I wanted to try it .this was in the beginning of my T when I could hardly even move I was so terrified. it was something that helped me relax enough to focus. if it accomplished that I would say it was a success . she did not use this to replace my T at all. she also did other things such as passing a ball back and forth, body scans, all were meant to help me relax and focus and be in the room

I've seen tapping done as a relaxation technique. It was a group session and beforehand we would do some meditating/visualization, and the therapist would have us tap on our head, eyes, etc to "connect to our bodies." I think there is something to connecting the physical aspect of emotion with the psychological, but still, I doubt I would want to spend $120 to tap on my head and repeat whatever the T tells me to say either.

I would say, try a new therapist if you can. My therapist knows a lot of techniques and we do whatever ones I want to or work best for me. He's never pushed anything on me, and I've hit a point where I trust him and his judgment so much that I would probably even try something ridiculous if he asked me to. The fact you aren't interested and she keeps pushing it makes me wonder if she is just short on other techniques to try.
Thanks for this!

Your tapping topic brought me to thinking about one of my neighboring farm owners JP Giacomini who is an international horse trainer from France. It's amazing to watch him work with his gorgeous Lusitano horses his "endotapping" technique works for any horse at any level of training. Depending on the horse, it's very factinating to see the almost immediate relaxation that horses get from this.

Here is an article on it & also a YouTube video.

If it works that well on horses, it should work on people also.

My ex always said if a person really believes it will work, then it may just work, the placebo effect can never be discounted. And, that's not to say my therapist didn't have excellent skills, but they were her people skills. In fact, I think therapy worked for me, because I believed her when she said I could heal, and it would only take 18-24 months. I had in my head it would never work and I would have to be in therapy a decade or the rest of my life. I wasn't wanting that. I had to change my thinking.
