Day five - ugh. Not so good. I received a couple of text messages from my cousin, kind of out of the blue. Upsetting enough that i go thru my inbox looking for my last dominoes pizza email so i can login and order. I find an email from my cousin from last monday, telling me my mother wants to come out for lunch. I wish i had seen it so i could have talked to t about it last Tuesday, but i know what he would have said - ignore it. Boy, she pops up at the end of June every year. Maybe theres a 4th of July party she wants to hassle me about.

Anyway, i cleaned the microwave. Heres a fun quiz: how often do you clean the inside of your microwave?
A) once a week b) once a month c) once a year d) i just replace it when it catches on fire.

I clean it if something sticky boils over in it. That is about it.

How can I respond without using the word "should".

If your T would say ignore it, you might want to follow his advice.

Perhaps covering the food before you put it in the microwave.

Your thread has inspired me to go back to something I did last summer--I made my own flavored waters. Cucumber slices in water is very refreshing. Fresh or frozen fruit in water is delicious, refreshing, and helps satisfy my sweet tooth. I found a lot of good suggestions for fruit/herb combinations online, too.

Thanks for inspiring me!

BTW, I like your new avatar. You look like a super-hero.
Yeah I like the new avatar too!

You know what else is good? Two parts herbal tea, one part juice over ice cubes. You can be fancy and add mint leaves or chia seeds (hint: chia seeds are way better after letting them soak a few hours) or bits of fruit for fun.
Thanks for this!

I also got rid of freezer stuff since the last power outage and made new ice cubes, so ice tea is on the way!

Hi H, I'm glad you're keeping us up to date. I've been stopping by to check on how you're doing.

And to answer a previous question:
No scheduled microwave cleaning here. Just when it gets dirty.

You go, girl!

I like having my new refrigerator. It's a bit bigger than the one that died, so now I can actually put stuff in the freezer AND make ice cubes. I have two iced-tea makers, one bought new and the other from a garage sale. The garage sale one can make iced coffee, too. Yum! Next time I make some, I'll raise a glass to you!

I actually acquired the habit several years ago of wiping the stovetop, front and sides of the fridge, and inside the microwave just about every day. I finally got tired of trying to clean the built-up stuff.

Something that really does work wonders--put a coffee cup half-full of lemon juice and microwave for about 1 minute. Let it sit a few minutes, and you will be amazed at how easy it is to wipe everything out, no scrubbing.

I did put some water and wave it and it was a lot easier. I am amazed at myself that i am actually doing these things that i have read about and thought about, but never did before.

Amazing what one can do when wearing a super-hero cape.

i need to clean my microwave too. I soak a cotton towel (not polyester!! melt age!) in water and microwave for about a minute--steam does do wonders!
Thanks for this!
