I've done DBT and that's what my t is trained as.

Anyway, a few months ago a friend was talking to me and I was feeling pretty low. I said something and she made a statement that sounds just like my t! I teased and asked if she'd been talking to him and she laughed and said that i just talked about it so much over the years she's picked it up.

i also notice I do this with my kid. Like, i feel like I didn't get healthy emotional habits taught to me, so I find myself sitting with him and talking him through skills. Or when i'm with a friend, i find myself quoting things my therapist has said to me.

idk. sometimes we can feel so rough inside our minds, i guess this seems like a positive. like something is being internalized and making me a better parent/spouse/friend.

what are your experiences?
Thanks for this!

That does sound very positive. I think that's what therapy is supposed to do.

Oh yes, but in our house all of us have had sessions with our T (same T) at some point or another, so while sometimes we do it seriously, more often we do it jokingly. Little does he know that he is the brunt of many jokes around here.

That sounds like fun my hubs has met my t and t encourages me to talk about things with my hubs so we've had a few laughs here and there.

I find myself repeating things PrevT has said to me. I don't go out of my way to do it, it just comes to me as a better response than my usual way of doing things.

I find it comforting. It's proof that I carry PrevT in my heart.

No. I cannot imagine even what it would look like. I suppose if I started talking in non-sequitur gibberish I might sound like her. When she talks she makes so little sense that I don't think I could do it even if I was not horrified at the suggestion of it.
