Today my T said, as I handed her my money, "I hate taking money from you", "you work so hard to get it". My only reply was, "it is your job after all".

Mutual validation is touching to see.

That's a very sweet thing to say. Your T must be very fond of you.

Am I the only one who would be pissed by this statement? Like: you hate taking my money? Then don't!
It's a business RS, don't pretend otherwise... |

I'd agree it's not very professional and most T's probably wouldn't say it. But I think it came from a place of "I like our sessions and they don't feel like work", so it seemed sweet.

I agree. I would be pissed the therapist had so little sense as to say this out loud to a client. It is a business relationship. Don't give me the other BS.

My standard reply to that one: yeah, I can't really afford it, but I can't not afford it more. And I do get a little pissed at anything that I perceive as an insinuation that I would not pay my dues or expect things to be handed to me.

Strikes me as an odd comment for a t to make.

I think it was a nice statement. Therapist's can struggle with the money aspect in a similar way clients can.

Therapists are supposed to keep their struggles to themselves. They get paid to do that.
