I had one great emdr session and 3 flops. I have to wait once a week to see my t. My first session was so life changing but our sessions feel unsuccessful now.

Most emdr t only have time to see me once a week. I want it twice a week. Should I find an extra emdr therapist so I can do it twice a week?

I know some ppl will say no but I'm tired of waiting for that one session a week and then feel nothing.

A typical EMDR session lasts about 90 minutes. The type of problem, life circumstances, and the amount of previous trauma will determine how many treatment sessions are necessary. A single session of EMDR is sufficient in some cases. However, a typical course of treatment is 3 to 10 sessions, performed weekly, or every other week. EMDR may be used with a standard "talking" therapy, or as a treatment all by itself. ( Emphasis added) WHAT IS EMDR?
Welcome to the Community, Rara200284. It seems the procedure generally is not performed more than once a week. You might want to ask your therapist if you can have the sessions closer to together.

I wish you well.

I say give it a try and see how it goes. I see two psychodynamic ones a week and it is fine.

Her schedule is jam packed. She can only see me once a week. A lot of the EMDR T's I call seem to be very busy people. That is why I was thinking of seeing two. I'm sure any T would not recomment it but I need it twice a week with the things going on in my life. Waiting a whole week for another session and have it be a flop is not helping.

What is psychodynamic? And do they know that you are seeing both?
