My last session I sat down and noticed a framed card T has of a painting by Virginia woolfs sister, of Virginia woolf sitting slumped in a chair, had changed -
Often I remark about this card, say I know how she feels, or that T needs to get her paints out and retouch it, as like the image, the colour is fading - looked fresh. With this T said, "I have something for you" and handed me a copy of the card. She had also replaced the faded one with a new one. I smiled and said "thank you", of course in my head I felt all warm and cared about and remembered! Those moments, where a shared memory is honoured between you both, are wonderful. Shared moments. |

That was very sweet of your T!
My T recently gave me a children's book that "made her think of me" (her words). She explained that she found the main character in the book very similar to child-me (I'm 27). Whilst I still don't completely understand the analogy (I didn't feel like delving into it yet and she didn't push me), the mere act of giving me this gift (on an educational/professional basis) was theraputic, because it meant she sees through my exterior. |
