Is 48 sessions a lot? Over a 6 month time period?

I have a 6 month reprieve to keep seeing my T...want to make the most of it.

I see my T once a week (minus vacations)... (she would like to see me twice a week, but my insurance would never approve). We have had 40 sessions now over 9 months time. There is no planned end date for me. My T and I are in this for the long haul.

What's a lot? Idk. I'd worry more about if you're getting what you need out of therapy rather than how long you're in therapy.

I pay out of pocket, and see her once a week. If I need extra sessions, she will give them to me free of charge.

Insurance recently dropped psychodynamic T so I only talk to him every other week for about 40 minutes.

CBT T is well-covered (but not entirely) by insurance so he is once a week.

When he is not on 8 weeks vaca

I think we have a total of 35-38 sessions per year (once a week, 45 minutes), since he takes a total of 14 weeks off.

48 in 6 months is twice a week, not uncommon.

I have sessions twice a week, typically with about four one week breaks per year.

I see my therapist every other week but in the past 6 months we have had two 6 week breaks. I guess technically that means I've only missed 6 sessions.

We are on our second 6 week break now and she said a couple months ago that she wants me to start weekly sessions after her return. I'm not sure I'm up for all that so I'm gonna need a little more time.

48 in six months seems like a LOT for me but I've seen several people come though here talking about two sessions a week. I do not believe I could remain stable with that much therapy. If I could afford it and maintain my stability~ I'd do it hoping I'd be done quicker.

It varies with how often I need to see him. When I am actively working on things, generally once a week or so, but I haven't been actively working on things in a long time. In a crisis I might seem him several times in week. Currently I may see him once every month or so just to touch base.

Generally I see each one once a week. I take more breaks from the first one though - so sometimes I go a month or so and do not have an appointment with her.

It was every 2-3 weeks. Then I saw her a bunch in a row due to life circumstances (like once a week for about 3 weeks). Now we've backed off to once every week and a half.

Twice a week. Occasionally we'll meet for an extra session if I'm in crisis. We've been working pretty intensely on the core issues and sometimes 4 days between sessions feels like too much to jump back into things. But that's not how therapy is structured...

42 sessions in just under a year. (10 months). Usually once a week, some variance for vacations, illness, yadda.

I see one once a week and the other twice a week. By the end of the week I don't feel like talking anymore!

My insurance allows unlimited sessions with my pdoc and T. I've always seen my pdoc once a month and at first I saw my T once per week. Now that I'm working and going to school I see T either once or twice a month depending on schedules.

I will be seeing my new T once every other week, which is 26 sessions per year I think. I wish I could go more, but we are both very busy.
