My t cancelled because I was her only appt and she didn't feel like staying for it, her words. What kind of therapist says that?

That was sooo messed up on her part! She could have worded it a little better than that at least, but she should have kept her appointment with you. That definitely would set an alarm in my book.

(((Nummy))) not to mention, one with a self-fulfilling prophecy. Not surprising that her schedule book isnt filled with clients, if this is how she treats the ones she has! Your t needs a t! Omg. Tell her if you find someone reliable, youll send her their number. Omg. Obviously, its not you, its definitely her

That's a lousy, unprofessional, hurtful thing to say. I would find a new therapist, then she can enjoy all that free time and you can enjoy a little respect and caring.

How long've you been seeing her? Was she sick or anything? Is she usually better than this?

That would hurt me a lot and make me feel like nothing, even though it's nothing personal.

Did she actually tell you that she was canceling because you were her only patient.

How did she word it? Not that it makes a difference, but if she had a family/personal issue she felt she had to attend to, it might make it a bit less hurtful.

If my T said that I would be ANGRY I'm pretty sure I would either tell him directly or never go back. To me, it's just unacceptable

That's crappy. If I told my boss I couldn't be bothered going to work as there was only one hour in the middle of the day, I'd get fired. They could've tried asking you to go in first up then they'd have the rest of the day free.

Yes, that was actually how she worded it, but she could squeeze me in the next day, in a time slot that will cause me to lose an hour + worth of wages.

I'm so grateful for all the support. I wasn't sure this was normal or not. I sm pretty much in tears, esp since my depression has gotten worse just since yesterday.

Wait...she didn't feel like 'staying' for it? That would imply you were not her only appointment and she had already come in for others. Were there several hours between her earlier appointments and yours? If you were her only appointment of the whole day, I would assume she would have never come in at all if she was going to be so unprofessional as to cancel you for no good reason.

I would find it unacceptable. I'm sorry that happened to you.
Thanks for this!

Nummy, do yourself a favor, a much deserved one, and find a new T. This person is a THERAPIST. This person should know that saying something like that could severely hurt their client. Common sense, and I'm not a T! Your T could have come up with some other excuse. Or, could have done the RIGHT thing and kept your appointment.

I wondered, too, about your wording, "staying for it," as in perhaps she was already there... but either way.......that is no way to conduct "business," which really is what we are, and that is no way to treat a person who trusts you with everything they have.
Thanks for this!

You know those sites where you can leave reviews of your experiences with doctors and other healthcare providers? If I were you, I would leave reviews on every single site stating what she said to you. People DO read those reviews when searching for a provider.
Thanks for this!
