I guess it depends on where you are. If you feel like you cannot keep yourself safe then you should go inpatient.

I feel I'm going to cut myself, but I'm not sure I feel it's status level red, to the point I should be locked up. I don't think?

It is not for me. But it might be a safe place or good idea for someone else.

irl, it sounds like you are in a place of crisis rather often and are frequently suicidally depressed, so i would go to some sort of inpatient/partial hospitalization treatment program for whatever is the most pressing issue. if it is suicidal ideation then go for that, if an eating disorder then do that, etc. i remember hearing from some psychologists that if you are getting help, like being in individual therapy, but still are having significant unmanageable problems then you need more help. i don't think individual therapy is enough for you and why you keep ending up in crisis, but i think if you can find an appropriate treatment program then you can start to make some progress. of course you have to be ready to do that though and sometimes we have to get pretty close to the edge before we've had enough. take care of yourself. people do care about you.

No, especially if it is a chronic problem. It is usually treated with outpatient psychotherapy. Groups, DBT and residential programs are also used depending on the situation. Psychiatrists won't admit people to hospital unless they are psychotic and/or acutely suicidal.

It depends on a whole lot.. If you are cutting yourself so bad that it requires medical care, on a fairly consistent basis, I think a T would think about putting you in a hospital. However, my T has always just asked to see my marks to make sure they aren't bad or infected and we talked about what triggered me, etc.. He has never ever said he would hospitalize me for it.

Have you SI before?

Your previous thread mentioned you trying to find a bed in an inpatient facility/hospital. Are you looking for reasons to get admitted?

SI typically not treated with inpatient. If it's true SI and not SUI, and your SI doesn't require medical attention, then you probably won't be admitted.

I had a 51/50 called out on me once. I disassociated, so the emergency team thought I tried to OD and they took me to the hospital. The ER saw.my SI and knew I had SUI thoughts, but after my blood tests showed I didn't OD, they discharged me.

I know the feeling of not wanting to. But do you need to?

Your safety is the most important thing.

If it is out of hand and you are scared of being a danger to yourself ... then calling for help or seeing if you can go inpatient might be the safest option
Are you able to talk to your therapist about this (not sure where you are at with therapy currently)? or is there a crisis line that you can contact to see if they can give you some help if you aren't going to try ip?

I hope you can find a way to stay safe

Until recently, I lived everyday with si
No one knows, it's hidden. I'm not sure why inpatient is even a thing. It's just a holding Bay for cattle unfortunately

No, I don't think so for a moment. It is a coping mechanism. Not a very healthy one, but one none the less.

There's been a girl in our local media who keeps threatening to jump off our shopping centre or train station, I wish they could keep her locked up! Cutting can be a coping mechanism, although not a healthy one. Scars and infection aren't good though.
