I think books are very real in some ways. I usually am reading several books at one time and the choice of which one to read is based upon who I want to visit at any given time. When a good book ends, I get lonely for the characters.
Any number of books I consider more real than the therapist. (Sorry for the off topic - just that books feel so real to me I did not resist)

My T tried to bring it up but my response was that is was not a fair question as this is an unnatural relationship. But he did agree that it the relationship didn't conform to other definitions of relationship. I ended the discussion there.

Bah, humbug! Books have often been better friends to me than people. When I'm upset with T I either go to the library or the bookstore. Not because I feel like reading, but because I want to be with friends.
