If there was I'd be intrigued to read it. Though I think I might be horrified at some things written there.

Not on this site. I do know the professional association in my country has one but you have to be a registered psychologist to access it. In short no, no public ones. I think it would be really boring as it is a professional site and would be limited to profressional discussions only.

My T is on one at linkedin. He sometimes tells me some of the things other Ts have written on there and about some of the threads. I would love to go on there and read it (I'd particularly love to find my T on there) but it's a locked forum you have to join.

Throughout the years I've come across some forums, big and small, visited by therapists or student therapists. Believe it or not, they're pretty much like other people. But one thing is they've learned not to share too much about themselves. They share very little about their patients except to discuss particular diagnoses or how some government programs would apply. I think they are aware of potential legal or ethical problems. Therefore you won't get the naked look into their interactions. It's mostly clean with a little bit of juicy stuff here and there. But overall I was bored.

Here's the link to a public "Links for Shrinks." They mainly promote their services, sites and blogs here. Occasionally they bash each other or clients.

What if there is? There's blogs by therapist, they're often bad enough....
I imagine any T with integrity keeps to supervision alone, leaving the narcissistic T's to their own devices.
Thanks for this!

On LinkedIn, Psychology Today, Links for Shrinks and other websites designed for professionals. They are mostly locked, for professionals only. I used to hang out on those. Knowing what is usually discussed there and how it is discussed, I doubt any of you would enjoy reading it.

I have always enjoyed finding out what therapists who pretend otherwise and make money off of it say when they think they are not being watched. It does confirm my opinion of them.

You are right. One would expect to keep their talks about clients for supervision alone, as it should be. But professional forums are not for discussing clients, even though there are quite a few Ts, who don't seem to get it. Professional forums are for discussing ideas, sharing information and getting support, just like all other forums, except the topics are professionally related.

Don't blame you. Honesty and transparency are largely absent from therapy work. None of the things discussed between professionals should be kept secret from clients. None of the topics related to psychology and psychotherapy should be a taboo for a public discussion. Secrecy breeds illness, not health, and the profession that claims to be a combination of a healing art and science should be more transparent about its theories and methods than any other profession.

Do you mean the sites are highly technical, would be demoralizing for consumers or something else?

Here's a Links for Shrinks discussion, "Why does it seem to be so common for people in our field to be snarky to one another?"

My therapist and I are connected on Linked in. She requested me a couple of years ago. She doesn't really post on their though.

A forum for Ts. I don't know... Internet forums are something I do for fun. I would hope a T would have too many interests outside of work to be spending their free time on the internet talking about work. It just doesn't seem very healthy to me.

Not really, but I guess it depends on the person. For me it was just irritating, but also somewhat laughable to see the stunning arrogance and ignorance of many bubbleheads who are convinced that their role is to put a medical-sounding label on every human experience and match it with the correct "treatment". What was more than irritating though is to see the online discussions of clients. I don't think this is something any client would appreciate. Of course, not everyone acted like that, but there were enough folks there with the obnoxious, arrogant attitude to make those forums really unpleasant.

On a side note, if I, as a professional, hadn't had the legitimate reason to be on those forums, as a client, I would have never tried to get there. I couldn't care less what my own therapists talked about with their colleagues.
