This is going to sound really dumb, but when you all talkabout pdoc, do you mean psychiatrist? I'm waiting for an appointment to see one (for the first time ever). I'm absolutely terrified. I just cant imagine waiting in the waiting room etc. I'm really nervous about the whole thing. It's mainly about my on going sleep problems. How do you all cope with the apprehension of going, or is it just me overreacting!!!

Most here use it as a psychiatrist, though some do use it for their Primary Doctor (MD, DO etc)
A psychiatrist usually just wants a history of your medications/reactions/results and your feelings/reasons for seeing him/her. That's mostly paperwork. Take written notes to the office to help you fill in the forms. Then the doctor will probably sit and read it while you are in the office with him/her... mostly they only prescribe medications, so all the questions are to enable them to determine the best ones for you. If you are put on meds, be sure to make a list of things to ask... how will it make you feel, what are the normal side effects and how many days do they last, how long before you know if it will work for you, will you gain weight, why should you take it in the morning/at bedtime.. I'm sure there are lists somewhere to help with all this. Psychologists usually do the talk-therapy, not the psychiatrists (In USA anyway.) Don't be too upset if you can help it... you are hiring this doctor to add to your team of consultants to help you begin to feel better and enjoy life. They have only your welfare in mind. TC
