so..i think that this is a very important thing that one should understand. it may be even subconcious but it`s still there...

ther are such people who say that they went from one theraphist to another and even years after years....
and nothing helps!

sometimes we are so burried in our pain and afterwanrd in our self pitty-that we don`t even want to try to help ourselves!
i am not saying this in a judgmental way-i have been through %#@&#! in my life and i know how it feels. and i made that mistake as anybody alse does... in other cases.
we should remember that NOTHING HELPS SOMEONE WHO DOESN`T WANT TO HELP HIMSELF !

we are so desperate that we may think tha finally when we found our therapist he will do it for us-but psychological therapy, i believe is based on SELF WORK...
the T can`t get into our heads and fix it there. YOU will do it with the help of your T.

That is indeed so important to remember! Therapy is a team effort. Please join us more often in the psychotherapy forum here and you will read many positive posts about the hard work people are doing and progress they are making in therapy. It is inspiring!

I do agree that you cannot be helped by a T unless you put the effort in, and you want to be helped.

I do, however, also believe that it can sometimes take quite a bit of time to click with the right T.

It's like any relationship-- did I marry the first guy I dated? Hell no. It takes time until you find "the one."

So I think it's a combination between finding and clicking with a T, and then putting in your own amount of work and effort.

I have a friend wwhom I've known for several years who has had the worst time finding a professional and compassionate T.

I KNOW he wants to do the work to get better.

I appreciate what you're saying, but I feel badly for people who are not able to access quality, compassionate care.

yes i don`t say it depends ONLY on the YOU! of course not!

i agree that it may be HARD to find a good one. a bad T is HORRIBLE. i have been to a session with one like that it it really sucked. made me feel worse.
