I find making fun of Twilight more entertaining than reading it.
There is just sooo much BDSM fanfic out there...

Indeed. I keep a dictionary by the bed and I did not realize some people do not do so until someone I was dating remarked upon how odd it was.
Needless to say we were not a match made in heaven.
This was a long time ago- many years - and this is about the only thing I remember about her. She did not even own a dictionary (I know because I was looking for one to use at her house and she did not have one. If we had dated longer, I probably would have given her one for valentine's day or something)

I always have one by the books I'm reading, however, I never found the need to have one on the go til mobile PC and SD. I'm thankful for it! I love learning new words.

I have several different versions and love to compare how the definitions have changed over the years.

I have the M-W dictionary app on my phone. The reason I put it there is crappy, but it still comes in handy.

A gift of words.

I have one dictionary... It was my mom's when she was in school... So it needs updating. It's several decades old. From the 60s.

Yes - the woman and I dated long before cell phones and apps.
Around the time of the Breakfast Club or shortly thereafter.

Oh those must be interesting.

Are you into the thesaurus to?

(I call it "the saurus" when talking to people just to see their reaction.)

I was 3 when that movie came out.

I have my great grandmother's 1950 dictionary, my parents they received as a wedding gift 1980, and then a newer one. Not that new though as it doesn't include "selfie". I used to read my great-grandmother's when I was a child to get out of my head and sleep at night.

Love the thesaurus! I'm gonna start calling it that, that's awesome.

What do you do for words starting with the letters A-L and X-Z?

I guess "impossible" is not in your dictionary.

The only time the dictionary failed me was when I was in grade school and the adults were talking about ptomaine poisoning and how they were concerned about some pizza we had eaten earlier. I got worried and needed to know what it meant. But I did not realize it started with p instead of a t. I ended up going to an encyclopedia in the town library to find it connected to mushrooms. It was a hairy few days for me.

I've never been able to read to get out of my head. I have such a hard time concentrating on books as it is... If I'm upset, anxious, etc. then a book will just make it worse. I usually go for music, video games, or my hand puzzles (interlocking keys and such). I fidget constantly.

I usually play the piano to 'escape' but a lot of time growing up I couldn't make sound so I found that by reading a dictionary I could do the same. Novels or any other book with a story caused me to overthink and my anxiety to climb, so the dictionary it was.
