It's an option. Anyone done group work and individual T at the same time? Should I continue with individual T while I attend group or should I take a short break while I finish the group? My t will be taking the group, if that makes any difference. What worked for you?

Hmmmm, maybe still see t for individual sessions, because you can work through issues that come up for you in the group? Maybe less sessions will be needed but it's probably a good idea to still have that 121 support.
Thanks for this!

See T for individual sessions at an as-needed basis. Like, individual sessions once every two weeks and group every week. That should be good! you can talk about the group sessions in individual therapy and how group made you feel.
Thanks for this!

I've always done individual at the same time as group. I find I need that 1:1 time to process what group brings up and to help with things that are not appropriately addressed in group. I am also rather uncomfortable in groups and have trouble participating though, so if you are comfortable with the group setting, you can cut down or take a break from individual while you do the group... maybe something to talk over with T?
Thanks for this!

I agree that you should still have individual T with group. Its good to have a session all to yourself to talk about things that come up. Maybe do individual sessions less while in group so therapy doesn't weigh you down.

My T used to run groups and do individual sessions for the same people, plus a free once a week drop-in session in the evening for anyone who wanted contact or support or company. One of the goals of that was to build structure and reduce feelings of crisis, especially for people who felt they needed a lot of out of session support or who felt lonely or isolated.

It might depend on how much out of session contact you've been wanting. If it's a regular thing, then it makes sense to do both group and individual sessions as a way to get your "T fix" in. IMO, combining group and individual makes sense.

I see my T every week and still go to group. I refused to go to group if I couldn't see my T. Because my group is really only skills, I need my T for processing (and simply because I'm attached ).

Hmm, still thinking It's all up to me. My t is happy with whatever I choose. I'm leaning towards still seeing her while group is on. Kind of think it's too needy though ?

I am in group and I see my individual therapist as well.
I have group weekly. I see my individual therapist every other week most of the time but weekly when I'm struggling.

I do process things that happen in group. I also need more time than group allows. With eight people in group I don't always get time to talk and that's understandable but sometimes I need more focused time.
Thanks for this!

I was in group and individual at the same time and loved it being that way, I felt much more supported.
