As I sit here and whine about weight...I am also making choc. pudding (vegan). lol. Not for me though, a neighbor's child has a really bad dairy allergy and she told me she misses chocolate. She's such a sweet little girl, and she always comes over to say hi to Sadie after she gets off the bus from school. I think she's 7ish. She doesn't come in, she just comes up to the sliders and I let Sadie out to lick her.

She should be here soon, so I just put a few mint sprigs on the top of the little cups for her.

Wikid,

I also have an autoimmune condition and for a year in the 90's I was on high levels of Prednisone gradually tapered down. I gained 30 pounds fast and it all went to my abdomen which made me look even fatter. I stayed that way until about a month after I went off it completely then lost about 20 lb fast and my midsection looked different without me changing my diet or exercise patterns. I'm not saying that changing your diet won't be helpful or help you to lose weight but this is a side effect of Prednisone, eating disorder or no. This isn't about you, or at least a lot of isn't; a big part of this is about the Prednisone.

Oh Oh Oh--I came up with a great 3 word description for childhood:

"long time ago"

covers everything!

OK, back to read the 1st 3 pages of this couch...

omg...little neighbor's face lit up! She's so excited.

Rags...thanks. I kind of know that... It's weird, I know so much about health and nutrition I could write a book or be a nutrition consultant. But for some reason, I cannot get my body to loose weight. I just thought having someone smarter take a second look at my diet may help. He may say "AHA, this is what's making you fat" but I definitely don't want a T session.

Rags...I've been on the pred for almost 2 yrs. I have "moon face" and the dreaded "buffalo hump" on my neck. It's awful. Hate it.

Yup, me. I don't get it. Frustrates the living hell out of me.

Sigh...jobs...

I love my job with every fiber of my being. I also work for a nonprofit and my department is woefully underfunded. I make poverty wages, and my benefits are skeletal. Yet, the job is highly visible in the community and (not to sound full of myself, but) everyone thinks I'm a perfect fit for the position. But I live paycheck to paycheck, barely have any savings, can't afford vacations... I need to make more money--I'm getting too old for this kind of lifestyle. I'm thinking I might be moving on in the next year or so to a different industry, but will continue to volunteer with the organization where I now work. Who knows. It'll be hard to continue with this group and community while giving up all my hard earned power/autonomy to become a volunteer.

If I owned the tiger couch I'd totally turn into a Dr. Evil-style bad guy, and sit right next to the head, stroking it's forehead while sipping scotch and planning villainous things.

omg the cat couch is totally creepy, and the tiger one is too although a bit less creepy than the aforementioned cat couch. Both creepy. Creepier and creepiest.
In the olden couch days there were a lot more horrid couches. Like this one that makes Stopdog say "ack".

(I think it vibrates...lol)

wiki you have really been down on yourself lately . you are the most amazing person who knows how to survive in the face of horrible challenges. I hope this nutritionist will be able to convince you to give yourself the break you need .

I believe women get to take up space in the world. I believe in not allowing the world to make size be a source of shame for us.

Thanks granite.
And thanks Stopdog, I really like the way you wrote that. At 5'10" I feel like Sasquatch to begin with, add an extra 65lbs and I feel like I take up the whole room.

Hey, that's my height (178cm) and I am not very tall at all! (And I'm overweight - I haven't weighed myself for years and years because I am also avoidant...)

Sorry, I don't want to hijack the discussion, just wanted to say that you're no Sasquatch. So there.

I think I killed the couch!

I'm gonna start with an OMG/WTF/UGH/GRRR. Yea, those are technical terms.

I am set up to see this nutritionist in April to help an ever increasing weight battle I am having. I get a form from them in today's mail. It has the usual medical questionnaire, a food diary form and the usual stuff. Then there's this lengthy psychological form. Asking questions like: Three words that come to mind when you think about your childhood. Yea. "none of your business" oh wait, that's 4 words. How about ***** OFF NOW! I cannot put my psych history on a form. I don't want to talk about it. This is why I do not T. I specifically picked this doc because he's vegan. Arg. Most nutritionists would make a big deal about my vegan lifestyle. UGH.
Wiki, I had lapband surgery last year. I had to get a psychological clearance..and I still see that psychologist. I went in and told the truth. I also have heart issues, etc but they approved my surgery.

I have slow weight loss since I can't exercise that much...but I have still lost 46 pounds..which I wouldn't have lost without the surgery. I don't have an issue with my pancreas so I don't know how that works..

Anyway, the surgery makes me not as hungry. I haven't had any unexpected problems from it. Just throwing this out there..

AMEN.

Also, as a daily public transportation user, I am adamant about not letting men get on the bus/subway next to me and do the "man spread" with their knees into my personal space. GTFOutta here with that.
