I googled my psychiatrist - only thing I found was an article he wrote about a patient with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis.

I googled mine, and she knew about it after the fact, while I was in the choosing process, then the waiting process for my first session. I was hoping to find testimonials, but there was nothing out there on her. Except that she had written a book. So I ordered and read (and enjoyed) the book. I was glad to find that info...being a memoir about her childhood, I found it very interesting. But I told her I googled her, and that I read her book. Now that I've been seeing her for over 10 months, I don't feel it's important to google her anymore so I don't. I just was hoping to find some info on her....as a T. I think she's on Angie's List, but I don't have a membership...therefore I couldn't look there. I felt a little uncomfortable about googling her and then admitting to it, but I told her I google EVERYONE when it comes to "hiring" a person. Chriros, PTs, her, my MD when I switched....yup.... I think it's a responsible thing to do, to check into these people we will trust with our well-being. Since there were no reviews, I left a couple of positive reviews on my own.

I googled/social-mediaed my Ts every which way you could imagine. Absolutely nothing on T1 other than a few interviews she gave to my school press, and a bit more on T2 (her award ceremony in college and her FB which has been inactive for years). That's all. They sure know how to be private in this digital age!

I wonder if he knows all this info is so easily available online...it took no effort on my part to find so much . ..I even saw what his house looks like on google. Only good thing is I know he lives far from my area ..so chances of bumping into him is low. Some T's have literally nothing online ..not even their pic!!! Just office address n phone . all official only. I wonder if they took the time to remove themselves online due to their profession.

Okay, that bit about the client asking her therapist about why his head was wrapped in bandages and his response, "What is your fantasy about my head being wrapped in bandages?" was hysterical. I'd have taken that as a cue to exit stage left
![]() The only internet search I'm interested in is: Is the person licensed? Is his/her license current? Where did he/she get their training? Are they in "good standing"? (meaning no sanctions or lawsuits etc.). I personally don't want to look at their Facebook page or their spouses, kids, or other significant others page. Not condemning anyone who looks that stuff up. I'm just not interested for myself. If he/she has written professional articles and/or books, I might investigate those because I think it goes to their thinking/thoughts/approach to therapy, which is important to me because I do tend to be analytical in my own approach to therapy and it might help me in my decision to whether or not we would be able to forge a solid connection. But the decision would be heavily based on our meetings in person. |

I've looked up all of T's social media accounts...I'm pretty good at finding people even if they have changed their name. I enjoy the challenge
![]() Most of T's stuff is blocked which I like, shows some professionalism, but it is nice to know she is a real person living a real life. |

I googled my T a few times. There's not much to find, only professional stuff like the website of his practice and his LinkedIn profile page.
