I would also add that while the woman knows my name and address - she does not know me at all in the less concrete ways. She has said she thinks she does - but when she describes what she thinks she knows she is so very wrong it makes me laugh.

My attitude towards facebook and my account always was "I don't use it, I didn't even put a profile picture. I don't send requests, if someone sends me one, I will accept it" (this is what I told people). So if I decided to put a profile picture, that would be a "message" to people "hey I am here and I am using facebook", but still fearing rejection I don't send requests. Now, if people don't send me requests, I feel "not accepted" and this would cause me terrible pain. My friend told me it's stupid and yes, I agree, it is stupid when I try to think rationally. Well, that's why I'm in therapy.

You don't need to be on facebook. I am fairly social and have no paranoia yet am not on facebook

Sure, but facebook has it's advantages. It would surely benefit me because people generally don't know me. This is what I realized lately... I was so focused on myself and my feelings that I forgot about them. In a place like my town, if people don't know you, they can't connect you to anything. They are reserved towards me just as I am reserved towards them... people don't introduce themselves or ask me for my name (my theory is that it's because it is expected of them to know people + the body language and the impersonal talk I do probably doesn't really help). Being on facebook would mean putting myself out there.

I AM going to put a profile picture... we have a DSLR camera in the office... I am going to bring it home and take my time to make the picture look as best as it can.... well, now I'm worried about being a tryhard... great. Infinite worries

Edit: Ofc I shouldn't worry about what other people think.
