My T says all sorts of things. I think she wants me to hear positive things from her often so maybe they will stick in my head and I will believe them, too.

I think she was serious with one comment but it gives me a chuckle:

"Cecelia, I learn from you all the time."

I don't believe his compliments...he probably says similar things to all his clients. I will feel very naive to believe them.

In real life, yes being okay with a compliment is fine.
For me, with therapists, I think it is only good self care to be wary and to know what they were trying to do to the client by saying such things. For me, whether they mean it or not is not the concern.
If the nice things a therapist says are useful to a client - then great. It seems that people are mostly reporting that they like it when the therapist does it.
