I am having a very rough night tonight.. Last session we went through a lot of trauma. I feel so overwhelmed and I have nobody to really talk to. I am scared that he will get mad at me... My first therapist would always let me text him whenever I wanted to and that gave me a sense of being secure knowing that someone cared.
I just feel so overwhelmed I want to go into bed and cry.. I don't know what to do.. He didn't give me an email. I only have his cell-phone number. |

I guess I'm too late getting into this, but that is such a painful way to struggle, having to wait days, or longer, to settle something confusing with T. But I would guess that since he gave you his cell # it must mean it's okay to call him when you're having extra trouble.

I have his number but only for emergencies when I can't get help from elsewhere.

I think it depends on what he told you in regards to using the cell. Like if texts are ok, or voicemails. I'd think if you're having that rough of a time it would be OK to contact him in some way.

You might feel better letting it all out (crying). I usually do and sometimes I can't even figure out why. It's definitely something for you to ask him next session. Could you make it to tomorrow morning and then call him? What would you need to hear from him to make you feel better?
We're here for you! I think sometimes you just have to process the feelings as awful as they are. I've had to leave work and cry for hours due to difficult feelings and my T. doesn't text or email. but, I can ask for an extra session. Oh, also could you write him a letter? that is one way I've gotten out a lot of my feelings and felt better. Maybe in my mind I had said them to T? |
