Wisconsin is a big kringle state and has the kringle as it official state pastry -
Wisconsin had a lot of Scandinavians settle there.

I had a small panic attack at my sister's, due to large crowd in small space. Was able to get outside and calm myself somewhat, then the creepy uncle slobbered on my neck when I dodged his smooch, and I had to pack up my kids and leave. Now I'm angry at myself for ducking and dodging, I should have said something but I didn't want to make a scene. I'm ALWAYS doing that!

She was manic the whole day, we got it all done, everything was delicious and I could not eat a bite. Being around her while she's freaking out stresses me out! I'm skipping Christmas and we're going to disagree about it, but too bad. Holidays are for enjoying, not for panic attacks.

Hope you all had a great day! I'm off to take bonus teen to work then I'm going to crash. Good night couch!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Survived the dinner at my parents' and got to see an old friend. So wiped out now though. Is it bad that I wish my daughter had school tomorrow? At least my H is off so we can share child-wrangling duties.
Thanks for this!

(((Stressed))) theres no dodging the creepy uncle. You get near them - game over. I dont know what they think gives them the right. To ruin things for everyone else. Maybe tell your sister, she had her holiday, now you are entitled to yours.

Yes, I think the creepy uncle may be an internationally recognised archetypal figure. (I'm lucky in that none of my uncles is creepy, though.)

Working from home today, which is nice since the weather is rather dismal. And I'm taking the afternoon off to do some quality dvd watching with my niece. (I'm even going to cook lunch for her. I don't cook very often...)

SM, good for you for reclaiming Christmas for your own enjoyment. Me, I'm in the "Jan 2 now please" camp... not that there are not some good things about the holiday, because for me there are, but still. And New Years eve is worse for me than Christmas.
Thanks for this!

I got a slightly unsatisfactory text back reinforcing the fact that he can see me fortnightly next year and gave me two appts for next year. Thats great but it doesn't help my distress right now. I still have to wait 3 weeks. Whinge over. Normal viewing may resume.

Hi couch,

Had an exhausting therapy session haha. T triggered me without intending to. She noticed it immediately, and after some exploration, I was able to figure out why I was triggered.

Glad about it.

Also glad she gently told me that it's really OK to resent and even hate a brother who sadistically beat me...even if I've been his listening ear whenever he says he has suicidal ideation. On going chronic situation which is f--king stressful.

Even if my heart is all torn up with worry, care, love...and yes, hatred, resentment and bitterness.

So...weird...sometimes, to have intrusive memories of his beating, while having to be gentle, supportive and non judgemental because he is saying he's suicidal.

Ever buy something and put it in a safe place so you'll be able to find it when you need it?

Does anyone have some RIT Dye under their cushion?

Last EMDR session didn't go well. Back on the unit now. Took half an oxazepam (a benzo), hoping it'll kick in soon.

Hugs to Quietmind and Breadfish if you want them, and to everyone else who is struggling....

OMG 'creepy uncle' needs a trigger icon all of its own! Jeez.

My T got me confused (scheduling issues) with another client TWICE yesterday. Wtf? How many other irritating dissociating avoidant manipulative Reds can she have?

Do I have a right to whinge about T scheduling when it is me who cancels because I can't pay and I know how hard it is to get an appt at the moment?? T once said it wasn't about the money as he knows I always catch up but I have forgotten whatt eklse he said about it.

I was very disconcerted the other day when No. 1 explained why she always peeks around the waiting room corner - to make sure she hasn't double-booked. How hard is it not to double-book?
