So is it paranoid to google "when to call an ambulance for a headache?" I have a coworker who is younger and in much better general health than I am; she had a stroke and was discovered unconscious on her floor several hours later. She's still living in a rehab hospital. Her only clue was "I have a really bad headache."

But I took ibuprofen and I can walk, I've maintained what little faculties I ever had, so I'm pretty sure it's just a tension headache that woke me up at 1:39 am in excruciating pain. My oldest child rubbed it in a little about how she was made to stay at school with migraines. Now I get it!

I'm still stunned by just how much it hurt, but ibuprofen and an extra pillow took care of it. Thanks!

Today's my birthday so we feast at work, and that's inadvisable after yesterday's sick day. The worst kind of torture! Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink. . .

Happy Birthday!

And for the stroke thing, I know there's a bunch of simple tests someone can give you or that you can do looking in the mirror. Like if you raise both arms and raise them to the same height, you smile and it looks normal (not like one side is drooping), can say a simple sentence, and... something. OK, I learned this from an episode of House, but I did use it once when I was concerned.
Thanks for this!

Here's a more official description! I guess it is just the 3 things:

FACE: Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?

ARMS: Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

SPEECH: Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred or strange?

When my mother had her stroke a few months ago, the only symptom she had was that she felt some tingling/numbness in her face and left arm and leg. She could still talk, walk, didn't have a headache, no drooping, no impairment of movement, etc., but the tingling and all on the one side is what she recognized as stroke. They went immediately into the ER and started the stroke med and she has had not residual effect. Very, very fortunate.

Hey, Good Morning Couch!

Unusual morning: I woke up to find Barry Manilow's Twitter account following my Twitter account. Ha! What's up with that? I went ahead and followed them back. I saw him in concert once in college.

Therapy today, then errands, then child care for a little one for a short time after school.

For all those Maureen O'Hara fans, TCM is honoring her by showing her films all day.

I had a TIA or brain attack once. Symptoms were blurred vision, confusion and nausea. I kept saying, "I'm confused." No headache that I can remember. Went to ER. Don't think there were any residual effects but I don't express myself or write as well as I used to. But that might just age related.

I knew someone close to me who died of a brain aneurism -they woke up and told their partner they were having the worst headache they ever had. They had been having lesser headaches for awhile and just attributed them to various every day causes.

Prednisone....I'm jittery and achey and not to mention sweaty. This is no fun. Plus the chattiness. It's like Ive had 5 coffees and cannot stop my thoughts just blahing out all over the place.

But no extra energy as all this jittering and talking is making me exhausted.

Morning couch! Today's my last day of sleeping in, Monday I go back to my normal 7-4 day shift. This week I'm working a later shift helping out the new hires, who always get the later shifts since it's not as busy in the evening as it is in the early morning. I'll be leaving for work in about 30 minutes so I'm not even there yet.

The "therapy high" I was feeling after I got home from t last night has settled into a good feeling about myself and all the hard work I have done in therapy, I'm so glad that I stuck it out all those times I tried to quit. I'm feeling like the talk we had yesterday evening has helped me move closer to a place where I'll be able to let her go and move into a life post-therapy. I'm not going to be hasty about it, after all I do have to face my family next week, so we're scheduled for 12/3 but I think after that I'm going to try every 3 weeks for a bit and see how that goes. It was good doing weekly sessions for awhile again, to really turn up the heat on some stuff, then every 2 weeks for a couple, so now it may be time to try every 3 weeks. We shall see.

Thanks you guys for putting up with me throughout my 'process'. That elusive word that means so many different things right? But yeah. Thanks for being here and for putting up with me!

My horse and I had an accident and she was forced by the situation into walking/stumbling across me to get to safety (it's a long, ugly story). Nothing is broken, but dang, I hurt and don't want to keep whining about it in real life. People have asked me a couple of times if I'm okay and how I am feeling. I am feeling as if I was run over by a horse. Someone seriously asked me if it hurt. Seriously? I just showed them one of my bruises. Yes. Yes, it hurts to have your body walked across by a horse.

Ouch, MKAC, that's got to hurt. I'm glad you're not seriously injured, though. Is your horse OK?

She is good. She tried really hard not to step on me, but I actually told her to just do it and get to safety, and clucked to her to get her moving on across me. Afterward, we were each really busy checking out the other one for injuries. So it was kind of a bonding experience.
