I wish there was a way to post audio clips here as the curlews make the most unreal warning sound. My D's liken it to a balloon deflating when you stretch the neck a bit and a cartoon noise when something is going to explode.
Thanks for this!

Birds with long curvy beaks. BPA has a family of them in her yard. I suspect the Australian ones are different from the Irish ones though. The Irish ones aren't noisy...

Ours are slightly different
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_stone-curlew.

Just read that it fills a niche similar to roadrunners in US.

There's a couple YouTube vids of bush-stone curlews. Is that the sound you wake up to? My neighbors dog barks incessantly and the one behind me has roosters that crow all night at the security light. But it sure beats the sound of peacocks!

I have spent all morning driving children around and I really need to get to grips with this last assessment but I feel so lethargic I think I'll nap for a while.

I dont believe they really thought I'd leave. Well I called their bluff...too damn bad. Depending on what happens after tax season job wise I may go back but not likely. Hopefully I'll find something closer to home.

Hi, couch.

I am home from CVS and caught up on the couch. Had an interview today for a "push-in/pull-out" teaching position at a local elementary school. If I get the job I would be going into some classrooms to assist teachers with their students with learning disabilities and pulling some students aside sometimes to work one-on-one. It would be really young kids (K-2), but I am still interested. I typically do not like younger than 3rd grade, as I am not very "motherly". But, I am thinking if it is only a few kids here and there in small groups it will be fun...I just would not like being responsible for an entire class of little ones. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I have a question that haunts me that I can never figure out the answer to...

How do people stay at one job longer that a year and a half?

I still have yet to do this and it bothers me that I can't seem to. If anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

Hope everyone is doing well. I love this thread.

We have roadrunners here, I see them quite often in the summer. Not so much when it's cold like now.... well, cold relatively speaking anyway....

h & I went out and saw a movie tonight, "The Intern" with Robert Deniro. It had some pretty funny parts, and tugged at my heartstrings at others. All in all we enjoyed it. It was good to take my mind off some errant thoughts I was having today at work. I wish I had talked a little more yesterday with t about what I was avoiding talking about 2 weeks ago, I told her one of the things I was avoiding was talking about what if anything I am going to do about my marriage and the desires/feelings I have sometimes that fall outside of it, I told her things are going pretty okay right now, she said well maybe it's a good time to talk about it so it doesn't just turn into a ***** session, I was noncommittal as I usually am on that conversation so we moved on to something else, I really should stop avoiding it. Especially after thoughts I was having at work today regarding a (female) coworker who's in the training class with me. I hadn't known her before this class. Ah but I don't regret using half my session for the energy work it was really good and something I feel like I needed, in fact I think that quite probably some of what I released was fear about examining those desires that I sometimes have of wanting to be with a woman again. Methinks I may be ready to sit down and have the actual conversation with t about it that I've been avoiding for awhile now. My next appointment is on 12/30 so not quite 2 weeks.

Sorry for being so wordy couch. It is so helpful for me to work these things out here.

Hugs to those who want them, cuz I have lots of them inside to give away....

I don't know. I used to change jobs every 6 months or so. Same profession different place. I would be interested to know this too.

I was just talking to my t about this today. Some people stay at the same company their wholelife. Maybe not nowadays anymore, but i have friends who did. I used to say, three years was my limit for men, jobs, and apartments. I cant even imagine.

I have been with my school district for 30 years. My husband has been with his job for 28 years. When you are with a good company/ work situation, you count your blessings and enjoy the job stability.

I have left jobs because I was bored. I have stayed when I enjoyed the work and left again when a new interesting proposition opened up. I have not had to worry about supporting children so I was fairly free to try new things that interested me.

Fun fact about me... I worked at a waffle house for about 3 weeks and couldn't handle the work environment anymore. That was over 10 years ago.

I've been at my current job for 8 years. I really need to stop texting my T. I'm having serious push pull / trust and don't trust feelings. Just really confused and insomnia so doesn't help with any of this. Blah.
