I'm glad you got an answer from your therapist about what's going on with her time. I definitely don't see it as a breach of confidentiality of the other client. Your therapist has a boss and she is stuck doing what the boss tells her. It happens in every job, but a bit harder for the client/consumer because of the nature of the transaction. I'm glad your not throwing the baby out with the bath water, and want to still work with her. In my humble opinion this does not make you a door mat. You have every right to be angry, disappointed, sad, etc. if it were me, I would continue to work with her, and deal with the emotions this situation brings up and how to move forward from it. To me that is when I saw growth. I learned not to cut of my tail to spite my face.

Yeah, no, I think you need a new T. And this is coming from someone who puts up with consistent, considerable lateness. Who put up with being left in the middle of session so T could go deal with something else. I'm chill and agreeable to a fault, and even I think this is ridiculous.
You could always try and work things out--your T doesn't seem purposefully cruel, just in over her head and overworked. But, honestly, her stuff doesn't really matter because this is YOUR treatment. There is nothing wrong with saying, "Hey, thanks for your help but I need someone more consistent." Absolutely nothing wrong with that. |
