I'm trying to figure out how to see my T during lunch without having to disclose that I'll be in session to my boss.

Has anyone else seen their T at lunch? If so, what'd you tell your boss?

I've said that I have a weekly commitment or a weekly medical appointment. Other bosses I've just told outright that I am in weekly psychotherapy.

Weekly commitment can be:

-sitting on a board of directors
-volunteer work
-meeting your child for lunch
-weekly meetings of a local organization
-etc

Weekly medical appointments can be physical therapy.
Thanks for this!

I've just said that I have a Dr.'s appointment. Or I've just said I have an appointment. Not really any of their business what the appointment is.
I've been lucky, though, that neither of the T's I've seen have me on a particular schedule. I go typically once every 2 weeks and the time and day varies. Makes it easier on me at work since I can sometimes schedule it for the end of the day.
I have had appointments around lunch time and just said that I have an appointment. That's it. It didn't need to go any further than that.
Thanks for this!

I agree with what the others have said--I describe therapy as a doctor's appointment or appointment.
Thanks for this!

Make it crazy. 'I'm off to fight dragons.' 'I'm meeting with Trump to discuss how to approach the war on drugs.' 'I got my Hogwarts letter and I'm getting my wand today.'
If they keep asking, get more creative with your answers.

If it is your lunch break why do you have to say anything? If you need to, just say you like getting "off campus".
Thanks for this!

If I went during my lunch break I just said I had an appointment. Will your boss really ask?

Since it's your lunch break, is the problem that it will run a bit over into work time? If so, you might just say you have a standing appointment on Mondays (or whenever) during lunch and because of travel time it will edge a bit into work time, but (maybe) you'll make up for that time by coming it a bit early or staying a bit late. Hopefully that will be enough. If they press, just call it a doctor appointment for "monitoring" and that you'd rather keep the health reason private. They can't really press beyond that.
Thanks for this!

I don't punch a clock or anything but my boss oversees several teams and individual employees. He encourages me to take my lunches but when I'm gone for any real period of time I generally end upon answering texts and emails on my cell, so I'm never truly gone to lunch. For session I will need to really be away and since our company is very hierarchical, my boss' reports won't be able to reach him, as they have to go through his coordinator, me. So my concern is that I'll need a good excuse weekly to prevent them from contacting me while I'm away.

Do you think taking lolagrace's advice and say you have a standing weekly appointment is sufficient? You can say it's a doctors appointment and you won't have phone or email access during that time. So long as it's your allotted lunch break they can't really argue with that. I do understand that office politics don't always adhere to those rules though, so you have to gauge it by what you think your boss will respond to. Maybe you can say it's for physical therapy if you think more info would help but you don't want to disclose anything. I don't think the type of medical appointment it is - such as PT versus psyhotherapy - will alter someone's opinion much.

Tell him you have a weekly commitment and need your entire attention on that focus while you are on your lunch. Tell your boss you hope he understands and doesn't mind. 'Personal commitment' or like terms makes it sound private where he won't ask so it doesn't come ou awkward.
