sorry maybe I should have said regular casual job. Over here the law is if a casual has been given consisent regular hours over a 4 month timespan they must be employed as a part timer, but if the hours are irregular then they can be casual.

Is casual like a temporary position? (Just not a term we use here. Love learning lingo from other countries.)

Casual is a position where you fill in gaps in the work roster and can be called in to cover sick leave for others. I'm not sure what you mean by temporary. I was a casual reliever for 3 years inhospital where I covered shifts over the different wards. There are short term casuals like the christmas casual where you work the run up to xmas and the pwer down. Thats mainly in retail though.

My sweet kitty is pretty much back to her normal self tonight. She got spayed yesterday and last night was still really groggy from the anesthesia, so we kept her closed in the office away from the other 2 cats for the night, she wanted attention oh so much, so I piled some blankets on the floor inthere and tried to sleep in there with her. I lasted about 2 hours, with her curled up tightly against me, until the floor got too hard and I had to sneak away and go to bed. This morning before I left for work she was still all wanting to snuggle and I gave her one of her pain pills from the vet, then went to work. Tonight, she is back to playing and is running away from everyone as usual when we try to pet her. Silly girl. But I am glad she is feeling so much better already.

A temp here is someone called in when a business needs someone for a short while. So like if someone's assistant goes on maternity leave, a temp could fill in for those weeks.

I think casual = temporary here. But temporary is the opposite of permanent.

I think english is funny because everyone uses it differently. I was talking to a pdoc who wasn';t native to my country and I said i take my meds at tea, meaning I take my meds with my evening meal he had to have the mental health nurse interpret. I am unusal in this as most people here say dinner but because of my British background I say things a little differently. I borrow words from British english, lowlands Scots and some Cornish words which were all used in my household growing up.

Everybody says Cornish is a dead language, but it is very much alive in my memory. Sorry I should have said Cornish dialect words not the actual cornish language which I think is pretty much dead.

The cornish word i remember most is "backalong" meaning "in the past" i think my Dad ussed to say it when talking about his childhood so I took to mean "when i was young"

Speaking of languages. I think it's kinda funny and cool too, the farther into Wuthering Heights I get, each time I read it, the easier it is to understand Joseph's dialect. I'm 3/4 of the way through it again and I almost don't have to ponder over it at all to know what he's saying. Another chapter or two and I won't even notice it's different than 'normal' English.

His dialect is nearly impossible. Kudos in getting used to him. I never really did.

Cornish language is not dead there is a website dedicated to keeping it alive.

I think it's just because I have read it so many times now, and I lose myself in the story every time....
