How would you go about finding a therapist that is experienced in an out of control sexual fetish ?

I would look for sex therapists in your local area. They would have the training to deal with a fetish situation such as yours, although if the fetish is harmless enough they may try to work more with having you accept it and not feel so much guilt and shame, rather than trying to reprogram you not to have the fetish at all.

You probably know it's a pantyhose fetish. And for the most part they are harmless, but when they start making you late for work and your wearing them more than you should, it becomes a problem.

A sex therapist could help you with reduction of the compulsion to engage in your fetish, back to a level that wasn't interfering in your life. I don't think the fetish in and of itself is a problem, we all have our little kinks and idiosyncracies, but obviously if it's something that you feel is interfering in your daily, normal routing then that's something you could work on with a therapist.

Good luck.

This fetish started before I was 10 and escalated quickly with puberty . By 13 I was wearing everyday sometimes for hours and hours. Missed school to stay home and wear. 46 now and just figuring out it's been a problem.

Sorry if I'm just blind and didn't see other posts about this, but what is it about wearing pantyhose that would make you have to miss school or stay home? Why can't you wear them to work or school? There are still people who wear them...pantyhose, leggings, tights, etc. It just depends on your preference. Maybe you do have an intense fetish, but how would anyone know? Or is it that it's very distracting?

You don't have to answer my questions if you don't feel comfortable or don't want to. I'm just curious.

I wish you luck finding a therapist as well!

Pantyhose bring me sexual pleasure. Wearing them always ends with masturbation. Males don't normally wear them.

Hmmm, yeah I can see how that would interfere with day-to-day function. I agree with the previous poster who suggested finding a sex therapist. Google can certainly help in your search by not just finding a T but also finding any reviews of said T, etc etc.
Good luck as you look for the right T! It can be challenging but well worth it.

I agree with everyone else that a sex therapist would be your best bet. Perhaps you could email them and let them know this is for a fetish and not a performance or desire issue? That might help you weed out therapists that have no experience in this area.
Thanks for this!

If you are using the therapist directory by Psychology Today, try the search options "sexual addictions" or "men's issues." That might get you closer to providers with experience in the area you are looking for. (A while back, I was curious what "men's issues" meant and looked at the websites of a few providers who had listed that as their specialty. One website stated that the therapist helped men with "shadow aspects of their sexuality.")

You could also look for Ts who are willing to work with sex offenders. Not because anything you do is criminal or "bad", but because they have experience working with maladaptive sexually-motivated behaviors.

Most of the reply's I'm getting are like this one.

No we do not treat that specialty. I would advise asking your insurance for a sex therapist.

Hope the appointment today goes well!

PS: Straight woman here...I love a man in tights. Nothing wrong with a kink or two. Hopefully T can help you keep your extracurriculars...extracurricular.
