The Couch - 109: CIX-Reintroduction

Can anyone recommend a good laptop or tablet/laptop combo that has the ability to take a SIM card? Not burned into a certain network? AT&Tonly offers the Apple tablets and notebooks and I am not paying that much for one. Also I resent being given no options.

I did see that article, Stop. Thanks. My problem is that with our new cellular plan, we have unlimited data, but cannot hook the computer up to the phone to get internet service. So we only have internet on the laptops at work with our network there, or if we find an open network. I don't use open networks ever with my work computer, only the baby laptop that I never put passwords or sensitive material on.

I do know that with my current SO - we have had to adjust because we want opposite responses when things are going rough for each of us. What she wants (and tried to do for me) was awful for me and created the exact opposite of what she was going for = and me with her. So we sort of had to agree to just do the opposite like when she is upset, she wants me there and holding her etc. When I am upset, I need tons of space and to not talk about it and no touching -that sort of thing.

What are you looking to do with the mobile device? Consumption and email and reading only - then the kindle is good (emails and reading docs) but if you want to actually create or edit word documents - I have not found the kindle to be all that conducive to it.

Instead of a sim card - have you looked into a mobile hotspot device? OR a used or refurbished ipad? You can get ipad 4s or even 1st generation ipad airs at some pretty good prices right now.
