I journal,I find this site helps,I maul my dog......I rent chick flicks....and talk to my best girlfriend.....even when she lives so far away.
I force myself to do the odd thing with family like a meal out or a game of mini golf.Sometimes a hot bubble bath, scented candles....my favorite music.
Its tough waiting to feel better....hope it happens for you soon.
OT a smidge.... What do you do while waiting...

Thank you. I love all of these things. I have spent time with my parents but feel like I need to give them a break and I talk to my sister and my brother. I have talked to some friends at work. Need to get my mind off my depression.

My house is looking better though...lol.... straighening up.

I will hug the kitties more. They sense that I need it.

Will go swim this eve....a bit.

I live alone...no hubby or kiddies. :-(

Thanks.

Sometimes I am afraid to journal ...afraid to get started. I notice that some journal and some do poetry..... wish some would also speak to what that does for them.

I think that physical exercise, (your swimming), is the best thing. It gets the endorphins going. For me, the next best is reading and/or watching movies. Letting the tears out is ok. Only I can't do that. OT a smidge.... What do you do while waiting...

Talking to us is good thing. OT a smidge.... What do you do while waiting...

Some kind of hand work is also a therapeutic way to spend time and let it out. Painting, knitting, sewing, clay-work, ceramics, something that you can use for a sort of art therapy would be good.

Volunteering can help use up time and you might get to meet people.

Taking a class in dance is also something I've been wanting to do.

You have a lot to deal with between your loss and the meds, so give it time, and be gentle with yourself.

SG, I am sorry you are feeling depressed. I hope your meds kick in soon.

When I am depressed, it can help if I go for walks. I also play very close attention to my sleep and try to get enough. For me, depression and sleeplessness feed on each other, so I try to grab sleep whenever I am able when I am depressed. Often that is not at night, as being depressed makes me sleepless.

Sometimes helping someone else who needs help will help me feel better.

Good for you, SG, to be able to clean up your house while feeling so low.

If I am depressed without knowing why, I find that journaling can help me discover the cause, which is helpful to me in beating the depression.

Seeing my T also helps. He makes me feel like things are not so hopeless, which is a feeling I have that is associated with depression.

I generally keep myself buy by panicking over the side effects.

Haha, sorry, that didn't help.

Maybe do a journal of your symptoms. That way you can note any reductions or progressions. Sometimes it's hard to tell if you feel better unless you have something tangible to look back on.... you know, since with meds it might be little by little... most likely the depression isn't going to just completely lift one day when you wake up... it might be little by little... so take note of the changes by writing them down.

I think most times, I've gotten on PC and read posts. You all inspire me. Other times, I try and distract myself by reading a psych book...some distraction eh?
