Just cancelled everything I had planned this weekend. I'm going to sit in bed and eat cupcakes.

A busy 10 days ahead of me. Tomorrow morning I re-audition for the chorus (we all do this every other year). Sunday is church and rehearsals for church. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday are orchestra rehearsals because Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are our performances of Brahms and Carmina Burana. Then back again the next Monday for begin rehearsals for our last concert of the season. Concert weeks are exhaustingly fun.

So . . . I'm being as much as a bum as possible today. We had the day off because it was a built in day to make up for bad weather (which we never had). I think I'm about to head to bed to read for a bit and try to get a full night's sleep.

It is fun.
Hope the singing goes well.

Cupcakes, puppies, baseball, blankets, and happy pills. No touching though.

It wasnt even the grafitti - it just looked unused. No air pollution, no overpopulation, no littering, all old cars even! It was a step back in time.

It was the worst pain I ever had, like someone was systematically driving a spike through my jaw. The blood clot that forms in the wound comes out, causing the "socket" to be ultra sensitive and hinders healing. There's this disgusting clove oil packing that the dentist puts in, which feels so wonderful you sort of don't mind the lingering taste of clove. Swimming wasn't prohibited for me, but no smoking or drinking through a straw, things that might dislodge the clot. I think you're cool with swimming!

Gross but true. Breastmilk cures pinkeye. (And outer-ear infections, diaper rashes, burns, and a host of other ailments.)

I would imagine it to be something of a challenge to obtain for most people.

Pinkeye is Of The Devil. Kids pass it around in school like candy. One of the upsides of having a child with multiple medical needs: I have the means to have antibiotic eye drops in my possession at all times.

Couchies--I need a friend. I have a very hard week, but tonight was really difficult. My son plays basketball for a high school team, and they play as a club in spring/summer/fall, when HS basketball isn't in season. I go to all his games, and literally all the other parents are friends. They sit by each other, talk to each other, and whenever I try to talk to them, I get the cold shoulder. I know I don't dress as fashionably or have as much money, but I swear I'm nice. I feel like I'm reliving the rejection of High School all over again 40. How do you find ways to fit in or make new friends when you're old, shy and have been burned?

I go through this too. The tiny town where I live is very cliquey and the queen bee of the clique and I don't particularly like one another, so I don't get invited to any of their many, many clique events. It's all clique members on my street too and the only thing that bothers me these days is when they have a barbecue or something and my kids are the only kids not invited (because of the parents not the kids who are friends with my kids).
I have accepted that I am not like those women and not being invited to adult events doesn't bother me anymore. I have actively sought groups and events that interest me, like a writing group and I have started studying part time too and I've met good people through both those things so I don't feel like I need the clique. I know it's hard though, and replays feelings from teenage years especially.
